20230074367 · 2023-03-09 ·

Disclosed is a system for canning foodstuffs that provides precise monitoring of the temperature of the contents of each canning jar during a canning process. The system may include user interface displays that provide prompts to the user regarding the canning process. Configurations of the system can include temperature receivers that include displays which prompt the user to perform certain steps in the canning process. Other configurations can include interfaces that control heat sources such that the heat source can be controlled by the system without user interaction during the canning process. Still other configurations interact with the canner to regulate pressure inside the canner to further decrease the level of interaction with a user.

Disclosed embodiments relate to a removable insert structure, which may be formed of glass and configured to be disposed within an outer vessel. The insert structure may have a sipping portion configured to extend out of the open end of the outer vessel. In some embodiments, the cross-sectional width of the sipping portion may vary, for example from the shoulder end to the sipping end. For example, the cross-sectional width of the sipping portion may be wedge-shaped, with the width at the sipping end being less than the width at the shoulder end. Insulated containers including removable insert vessels and lids for use with insulated containers are also disclosed.

Portable hand-held device for accommodating and transporting food or a beverage and method for controlling temperature

The invention relates to a portable hand-held device for accommodating and transporting food or a beverage, having a thermally insulated container (2), which is intended to accommodate food or a beverage in an accommodating space (7) and which has an inner and an outer wall (8), and an insulating space (9) arranged therebetween, enclosing the accommodating space, the insulating space being of closed and sealed design and having been evacuated; and having a container closure (3), which is intended to close a container opening (4) of the thermally insulated container (2), wherein the insulating space (9) contains a working medium (11) which, by means of thermal energy being supplied from the outside via the outer wall (8), can be transferred in a reversible manner between a thermally insulating, initial state, in which the working medium (11) is in the solid state and is in contact with the outer wall (6), and is not in contact with the inner wall (5), and a thermally conductive state, in which at least some of the working medium (11) is in the liquid state and has expanded and is in thermally conductive contact both with the outer wall (6) and with the inner wall (5). The invention also provides a method for controlling the temperature of food or of a beverage in a portable hand-held device.

Beverage container closure with venting

A beverage container closure or lid adapted for closing an open end of a beverage container. The lid is couplable to the beverage container and includes a selectively openable stopper that when closed, creates a fluid-tight seal between the beverage container and the environment. The stopper may be opened by pressing a button disposed on a side of the beverage container closure. The stopper is subsequently automatically closed when the button is released. Thus, the user may open and close the beverage container closure using a single hand without the need to remove the beverage container closure from the beverage container. The beverage container closure includes an actuating lever configured to press the button when a user applies a force to the lever. By utilizing the mechanical advantage provided by the lever, a user is able to selectively open and close the stopper using a relatively low amount of force.
