FLEXIBLE PACKAGING MATERIAL

Described herein is a process for preparing a flexible packaging material. The process may comprise: providing a first flexible substrate; printing an ink composition comprising a thermoplastic resin onto the first flexible substrate; depositing a cross-linking composition comprising a cross-linker onto the printed ink composition such that the thermoplastic resin of the ink composition is crosslinked; and laminating the first flexible substrate with a second flexible substrate such that the ink composition and the cross-linker are disposed between the first and second flexible substrates.

LABELS

Herein is described a method of producing a printed label. The method may comprise: a. providing a label substrate having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first and second surfaces form opposing surfaces of the label substrate; b. applying a primer comprising a cross-linkable primer resin onto the first surface of a label substrate to form a primer layer; c. electrophotographically printing onto the primer layer an electrostatic ink composition comprising a cross-linkable thermoplastic resin to form a printed layer; d. applying a cross-linking composition comprising a cross-linking agent to the printed layer, wherein the cross-linking agent penetrates into the electrostatic ink composition and the primer layer; and e. activating the cross-linking agent wherein an adhesive is present on the second surface of the label substrate in step a or applied to the second surface of the label substrate at any point in the method after step a. Printed labels are also described herein.

OVERCOATED PRINTED SUBSTRATE

Described herein is a method of providing an overcoated printed substrate. The method may comprise: providing a printed substrate comprising a primer layer disposed on a print substrate and a liquid electrostatically printed layer disposed on the primer layer; and applying a UV curable overcoat composition to the printed layer of the printed substrate, wherein the UV curable overcoat composition comprises a UV curable resin and inorganic nanoparticles dispersed therein.

OVERCOATED PRINTED SUBSTRATE

Described herein is a method of providing an overcoated printed substrate. The method may comprise: providing a printed substrate comprising a primer layer disposed on a print substrate and a liquid electrostatically printed layer disposed on the primer layer; and applying a UV curable overcoat composition to the printed layer of the printed substrate, wherein the UV curable overcoat composition comprises a UV curable resin and inorganic nanoparticles dispersed therein.

An electrophotographic image forming system forms an electrostatic latent image on at least a photoreceptor, develops an image using an electrostatic charge image developing toner, and removes the toner using a cleaning blade. A tip ridge of the cleaning blade is pressed against a surface of the photoreceptor. The system includes a photosensitive layer of the photoreceptor and a surface protecting layer that is provided on a surface of the photosensitive layer. The surface protecting layer includes a polymerizable monomer having at least two polymerizable groups in a molecule and a polymer of a hole transporting compound having a polymerizable group represented by General formula (1). The tip ridge of the cleaning blade has an edge angle that is obtuse and less than 120? and is pressed against the surface of the photoreceptor at an effective contact angle that is in a range of 8 to 20?. ##STR00001##

TEXTILE PRINTING

Herein is described a method of printing on a textile substrate. The method may comprise: a. applying a primer comprising a cross-linkable primer resin onto a surface of the textile substrate to form a primer layer; b. electrophotographically printing onto the primer layer an electrostatic ink composition comprising a cross-linkable thermoplastic resin to form a printed layer; c. applying a cross-linking composition comprising a cross-linking agent to the printed layer, wherein i. the cross-linking agent penetrates into at least the electrostatic ink composition and the primer layer; and/or ii. the cross-linking agent is a non-isocyanate agent; and d. activating the cross-linking agent. Printed textiles are also described.

Electrophotographic varnish

A transparent electrophotographic varnish composition comprises a charge adjuvant and inorganic filler particles. A method of manufacturing an electrophotographic varnish composition comprises heating a thermoplastic resin mixture until the resin has melted; cooling the resin mixture to form resin particles; contacting the resin particles with a charge adjuvant and inorganic filler particles to form composite particles or a mixture of particles; and combining the composite particles or particulate mixture with a carrier fluid to form the electrophotographic varnish composition. A liquid electrophotographic printing system and a print substrate are also provided.
