A controller causes the drive unit to operate the switching member, and performs a checking operation for checking a state of the drive unit based on an output from a sensor that detects a state of the switching member. The controller controls a sheet conveyance interval between a first sheet conveyed by the conveying unit and a second sheet conveyed following the first sheet, according to a result of the checking operation.

An image forming apparatus including applications and system side software for providing system side services to the applications is provided, in which the image forming apparatus includes: an authentication module for displaying an authentication screen on an operation panel of the image forming apparatus, wherein the authentication module allows the image forming apparatus to display a screen for using the image forming apparatus instead of the authentication screen if authentication data input from the authentication screen satisfies an authentication condition, and wherein the authentication module is provided in the image forming apparatus separately from the system side software.

The image forming apparatus includes: a photoconductor unit on which an electrostatic latent image is formed; and a conveying unit configured to convey printing medium at a first conveying velocity toward the photoconductor unit, and configured to convey the printing medium at a second conveying velocity that is lower than the first conveying velocity when the printing medium approaches the photoconductor unit.

The electrical parameter detection method includes: configuring an installation detecting pin to be at a high level by an image forming control unit; controlling a voltage of an installation detecting terminal to be at a low level by a chip control unit, such that a current loop is formed between the image forming apparatus and the chip; and determining, by the image forming apparatus, whether the image forming apparatus is in a desired contact with the chip according to an electrical parameter of the current loop.

A document conveyance apparatus includes a document conveyance section, a cover, an opening and closing detection sensor, a document detection sensor, and a control section.
