An image forming system comprises a first housing, a second housing and a third housing. The second housing may comprise a motor, a first door and a first switch. The first switch is provided on an electrical path connecting a power supply and the motor, for switching between a first state and a second state and for switching from the first state to the second state. The third housing may comprise a load. When the first door is opened in a state where the first switch is in the first state, the first switch switches from the first state to the second state to cause supply of electric power to the load to be cut off.

An image forming apparatus including: a container unit configured to contain a recording material; an image forming unit configured to perform image formation onto the recording material conveyed from the container unit; a control unit configured to perform a preparatory operation for the image formation at an image forming speed before the image forming unit performs the image formation onto the recording material; and a first detection unit configured to detect a size of the recording material contained in the container unit, wherein the control unit is configured to judge whether to execute the preparatory operation based on the size of the recording material detected by the first detection unit.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus that has an image bearing member to be removably mounted to the image forming apparatus includes an intermediate transfer member, a toner detection unit, an exposure device, a forming unit, and a judgment unit. The judgment unit judges a mounting state of the image bearing member based on whether the toner detection unit detects a toner image transferred on a surface of the intermediate transfer member. When the image bearing member is mounted, first and second patterns of toner images are formed apart by a predetermined interval in a rotation direction of the intermediate transfer member. Where the toner detection unit detects the first and second patterns of toner images, the judgment unit judges that the image bearing member is mounted. Where one of the first and second patterns is not detected, the judgment unit judges that the image bearing member is not mounted.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a stack portion having recording materials, an image forming unit, a basis weight detection unit, an operating sound detection unit, and a mode selection unit. The basis weight detection unit detects a recording material basis weight based on an ultrasonic wave. The operating sound detection unit detect an abnormality of a generated operating sound. The mode selection unit selects, for each recording material fed to the image forming unit, between transmitting to the basis weight detection unit a first instruction for detecting the recording material basis weight and transmitting to the operating sound detection unit a second instruction for detecting the operating sound abnormality. In determining an interval at which each second instruction is transmitted, the mode selection unit determines the interval so that the interval and a cycle, in which properties of recording materials on the stack portion are repeated, do not continuously coincide.

The first displacement member displaces the plate from a first side to a pressure and a release position. The first input member displaces the first displacement member to a first and a second position. The second displacement member displaces the plate from a second side to the pressure and the release position. The second input member displaces the second displacement member to a third and a fourth position. The coupling member gives the second input member a second displacement amount larger than a first displacement amount. The restricting member restricts a displacement amount of the second input member. The elastic member elastically deforms when the amount of displacement is restricted.

A sheet discharging apparatus includes a discharge unit, a stacking portion and a swing guide. The stacking portion includes an upstream supporting portion, a wall surface portion, a first supporting portion provided downstream of the upstream supporting portion and including a first inclined surface, and a second supporting portion provided downstream of the upstream supporting portion and including a second inclined surface. The swing guide overlaps with the first supporting portion as viewed in a width direction of a sheet in a case where the swing guide is not in contact with a sheet discharged by the discharge unit, and swings upward in a case where the swing guide is pushed by a sheet.

A sheet-member guide structure includes a first guide member that guides a sheet member from a fixing unit to a transport roller unit, the fixing unit fixing an image formed on the sheet member to the sheet member by heating the sheet member that is transported, the transport roller unit transporting the sheet member; and a second guide member that comes into contact with the sheet member to which the image has been fixed by the fixing unit and guides the sheet member to the transport roller unit, the second guide member being disposed downstream of the first guide member in a transporting direction in which the sheet member is transported and being made of a material having a thermal conductivity higher than a thermal conductivity of a material of the first guide member.

The power supply apparatus includes a control unit configured to output a pulse signal for driving a switching element, to drive a transformer to output a voltage from a secondary winding of the transformer, and a memory unit configured to store information associating the output voltage with the duty and the frequency of the pulse signal, and the control unit switches the frequency and the duty based on the output voltage and the information stored in the memory unit.

A decurling device is provided on a downstream side with respect to a fixing device in a medium transporting direction and straightens a curl formed in a medium transported to the decurling device. The decurling device includes a bending unit extending across the medium transporting direction and that bends the medium in a decurling direction by coming into contact with a leading end of the medium; and a position adjusting unit that adjusts, in a medium crosswise direction, tilt of a contact part of the bending unit, the contact part coming into contact with the leading end of the medium exited from the fixing device.
