An image forming system including: a reading unit configured to read, through a transparent member, an image on a first sheet conveyed by a conveyance unit; an opposed member provided opposite to the reading unit with respect to the transparent member, the first sheet passing through a gap between the opposed member and the transparent member; and at least one processor configured to control, based on the image read by the reading unit, a geometric characteristic of an image to be formed on a second sheet by an image forming portion, and control a changing unit to change the size of the gap to a first size when the thickness of the first sheet is a first thickness, and to a second size larger than the first size when the thickness of the first sheet is a second thickness larger than the first thickness.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on an image bearing member based on an image forming condition; a transfer unit configured to transfer the image formed on the image bearing member onto a sheet; a first reading sensor configured to read a first image for adjustment which has been formed on the sheet; a second reading sensor configured to read a second image for adjustment which has been formed on the image bearing member; and a controller configured to: generate the image forming condition based on reading results of the first image for adjustment on a plurality of sheets, which are obtained by the first reading sensor; and generate the image forming condition based on a reading result of the second image for adjustment, which is obtained by the second reading sensor.
MOTOR CONTROL APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING STOP POSITION OF ROTOR
A motor control apparatus includes a voltage control unit and a current detection unit. The voltage control unit controls a voltage when applied to cause current to flow through the coils a motor that is detected by the current detection unit. When measurement processing is performed on a set from a plurality of sets of coils having two coils each, a first detection result is obtained by the coil current flowing from a first coil of the set to a second coil of the set. A second detection result then is obtained by the coil current flowing from the second coil to the first coil. The stop position of the rotor of the motor is determined based on the first detection result and the second detection result obtained for each of the plurality of sets of coils.
ENCLOSING-SEALING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM
An enclosing-sealing apparatus includes a flap opener that opens a flap of an envelope while the envelope is conveyed to an enclosing position. A first envelope detector is disposed upstream from the flap opener in an envelope conveyance direction and detects both ends of the envelope in the envelope conveyance direction. A second envelope detector is disposed downstream from the flap opener in the envelope conveyance direction and detects both ends of the envelope in the envelope conveyance direction in an open state in which the flap opens. A controller determines the open state of the flap based on a first detection result sent from the first envelope detector and a second detection result sent from the second envelope detector. The controller performs troubleshooting for enclosing the enclosure into the envelope if the controller determines that the open state of the flap is faulty.
DETECTION DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A detection device and an image forming apparatus. The detection device includes a size sensor to detect a size of a sheet in a direction of conveyance, the sheet being conveyed when detected by the size sensor, a thickness sensor to detect a thickness of the sheet, and circuitry to determine whether a disparity in sizes is occurring to the sheet or a fed-with-overlap error is occurring to the sheet, based on the thickness of the sheet detected by the thickness sensor. The image forming apparatus includes a detection device including a size sensor to detect a size of a sheet in a direction of conveyance, a thickness sensor to detect a thickness of the sheet, and circuitry to determine whether a disparity in sizes is occurring to the sheet or a fed-with-overlap error is occurring to the sheet, based on the thickness of the sheet.
SHEET DISCHARGE APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet discharge apparatus includes a stack portion, a reversing unit configured to reverse a reversing sheet, a support member configured to support a lower surface of the reversing sheet, a discharging unit configured to discharge a discharging sheet from the apparatus body, a pivotable member arranged above the stack portion, and a detector configured to output a detection signal that changes according to a pivot angle of the pivotable member. When viewed in a sheet width direction perpendicular to the first conveyance direction, a pivoting locus in which the pivotable member pivots overlaps the support member.
FIXING DEVICE
A fixing device heats and fixes a toner image formed on a sheet to the sheet. The fixing device includes a heat roller and a ground contact. The heat roller heats the toner image formed on the sheet. The ground contact grounds the heat roller. The ground contact includes a first electrical conductive member, a second electrical conductive member, and an electrical insulating member. The first electrical conductive member is electrically connected to the heat roller. The second electrical conductive member is positioned opposite the first electrical conductive member and grounds the heat roller. The electrical insulating member is interposed between the first electrical conductive member and the second electrical conductive member and insulates the first electrical conductive member and the second electrical conductive member from each other.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on an image carrier, a transfer unit configured to transfer the image from the image carrier to a sheet, a reader configured to read a pattern image on the sheet while conveying the sheet, a sensor configured to measure a measuring image on the image carrier, and a controller configured to control the image forming unit to form the pattern image and the measuring image while forming images on a plurality of sheets, control the reader to read the pattern image, control the sensor to measure the measuring image, and generate an image forming condition based on a result of reading the pattern image by the reader and a result of measuring the measuring image by the sensor.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image on a recording medium based on an image forming condition, a detection unit configured to detect a test image on the recording medium, a controller configured to: obtain information related to the recording medium on which the test image is formed; determine whether or not to adjust the image forming condition based on the information; control the image forming unit to form the test image on the recording medium; control, in a case where a type of the recording medium on which the test image is formed is a first type, the image forming condition based on a detection result of the test image by the detection unit.
