Timepiece
A timepiece includes a movement having a timepiece component, a first hand that has a first length and that is driven by the movement, a second hand that has a second length less than the first length and that is driven by the movement, a support plate provided on the movement, and a dial including a support plate provided on the movement and a sub-dial ring that displays an indicator related to the second hand. The support plate has a support plate ring member that is provided with a support plate opening and a support member that is coupled to the support plate inner circumference of the support plate ring member. The timepiece component is disposed below the support plate opening. The sub-dial ring is disposed on the support member. A cut-out portion is provided at an overlapping position that is above the timepiece component and that overlaps the timepiece component.
Luxury Smartwatch
A system for transforming a regular smartwatch into a luxury item, comprising, a smartwatch unit including at least the display unit of the smartwatch; and a box including a housing to accommodate said smartwatch, said box having a cover being openable and closeable to cover said display unit, wherein said cover has at least one hole so that a corresponding portion of said display unit is visible to a user when said cover is in closed position, wherein when said cover is in closed position, the smartwatch unit displays the output of the smartwatch in on said corresponding portion of the display.
Bidirectional and Expressive Interaction in a Hybrid Smart Watch
Aspects of the disclosure provide a hybrid smartwatch that incorporates digital technology with an analog timepiece in a wristwatch form factor. A digital display layer of a non-emissive material is configured to present notices, data, content and other information. An analog display layer includes one or more hands of the timepiece, and overlies the digital display layer. The hands may be controlled by a processor through micro-stepper motors or other actuators. Physical motion of the hands provides expressivity, for instance via visual mechatronic effects. This may include buzzing, clapping, providing stylized visual features, hiding or minimizing information, and revealing information. The information presented on the digital display layer is presented concurrently with the hand movement, in a manner that complements the hand motion. This provides a rich, symbiotic dual-display layer arrangement that enhances the capabilities of the digital and analog display layers.
Method of Constructing a Wall Clock using Vinyl Records
A method of constructing a wall clock using vinyl records allows a vinyl record to be recycled and repurposed as a wall clock. A used vinyl record is refurbished by being polished and buffed to respectively improve shine and remove any scratches. Track information and/or other designs are engraved onto the vinyl record for aesthetic purposes. A central portion of the vinyl record is modified into a clock-receiving setting in order to receive a center piece. The center piece is the display face of a wall clock. The center piece is mounted into the clock-receiving setting. A clock mechanism is mounted onto the center piece, opposite the clock-receiving setting. The clock mechanism may be any type of mechanism in order produce a clock movement for a wall clock. The clock mechanism includes a pair of clock hands to allow an individual to tell time from the constructed wall clock.
TIMEPIECE
The present invention relates to a timepiece comprising: a housing (104) formed of a back plate (126), a side wall extending around the periphery of said back plate to form a rim (105), and a substantially transparent cover (102) extending across said rim (105) to form an enclosure; a horological mechanism mounted within said housing (104) adjacent to said back plate (126) and a time display means coupled to said horological mechanism by means of a shaft (116) and visible through said transparent cover (102); a face assembly including a tray (132) and a faceplate (136), the tray (132) comprising a substantially rigid base and having an elongate slot (136a) therein that extends from an open end at a peripheral edge of the base to a generally central location thereof, the slot (136a) having a width substantially equal to, or greater than, the diameter of said shaft (116), the faceplate (138) having a corresponding elongate slot (136b) therein and being configured to be received on said base such that their respective elongate slots (136a, 136b) are aligned; wherein the rim (105) of said housing includes an opening (130) therein configured to slidably receive into and remove from the housing (104), said tray (132) including a said faceplate (138), such that said shaft (116) is accommodated within said aligned slots (136a, 136b) and said faceplate (138) is substantially parallel to said cover (102); the time piece further comprising means for releasably fixing said face assembly within said housing.
WATCH AND WATCH FACE THEREOF
A watch includes a watch body, a watch face attached to the watch body and having an opening, and a pointer. The pointer includes an extension portion disposed to sandwich the watch face between the extension portion and the watch body and extending from the opening to face an upper surface of the watch face, and a support portion protruding from the watch body into the upper surface of the watch face via the opening, and connected directly to the extension portion. The pointer includes a change portion formed in the extension portion to change a posture of the extension portion such that a front end of the extension portion is raised with respect to a base end of the extension portion to be apart from the watch face. The watch face is removed from the watch body along the extension portion raised by the change portion.
