METHOD OF AUTHENTICATING USER OF ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PERFORMING THE SAME

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes one or more processors that, while the electronic device is in a locked state, control to detect whether the electronic device is lifted, in response to detecting that the electronic device is lifted, control to activate the display, obtain an image from a camera, detect a face included in the image, and perform authentication of a user based on the face being detected in the image. Based on a result of the authentication, the one or more processors switch a state of the electronic device from the locked state to an unlocked state and display an indicator for indicating that the electronic device is in the unlocked state.

INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM

There is provided an information processing apparatus, control method, and program that allow for recognition of a state of an arm on the basis of determination of whether the information processing apparatus is worn on the left arm or the right arm, the information processing apparatus including: a determination unit configured to determine whether the information processing apparatus is worn on a user's right arm or left arm; a recognition unit configured to recognize a state of the arm; and a control unit configured to perform predetermined control on a device included in the information processing apparatus according to the recognized state of the arm. The recognition unit switches settings of a parameter which is used in the recognition of the state of the arm, according to a result of the determination by the determination unit.

CONNECTED, MECHANICAL WINDING WATCH

An electronic watch comprising a timekeeper logic unit (42) set to control a display (50,54) of the time, and a controller (48), in communication with an external device (90) or with Internet (99) through a wireless interface (68) of the watch, and a mechanical energy harvester system (25) set to transform mechanical energy deriving from the movements of a wearer to electrical energy, a power manager circuit for storing the electrical energy in a battery (30) and/or in a capacitor (32), and to supply the logic unit (42), the controller (48) and the wireless interface (68) with energy stored in the battery (30) and/or in the capacitor (32).

Low power display updates

A method for updating images displayed on an electronic display of a mobile device includes determining a time interval between successive updates of an image frame. The image frame is displayed on the electronic display, and the mobile device is configured to be in a low power mode between the successive updates. The method also includes receiving one or more application updates within the time interval after a first update of the image frame, and updating the image frame after the time interval based on the one or more application updates.

ELECTRONIC TIMEPIECE, DISPLAY CONTROL METHOD AND STORAGE MEDIUM

An electronic timepiece, including: a counter; a display section; a first processor; a second processor; and a power supply section which supplies electric power to each section from a battery, wherein when an output voltage from the power supply section decreases to less than a predetermined first reference voltage, the first processor stops a display operation by the display section, when the time information is acquired by the processing operation of the second processor, the first processor corrects the time counted by the counter based on the acquired time information and causes the display section to display the corrected time, and when the output voltage decreases to less than the first reference voltage following an acquisition operation of the time information by the second processor, the first processor does not stop a time display operation during a predetermined pending period.

Display units for digital out of home advertising with orientation monitoring features are disclosed. The units include an electronic display, an orientation detection device, and a controller. The controller receives orientation data from the orientation detection device, determines a baseline orientation of the display unit, and where a subsequently detected orientation is not within a predetermined margin of the baseline orientation, electronically generates an alert.

PORTABLE DEVICE WITH ADJUSTABLE STOPWATCH FEATURE
20240036721 · 2024-02-01 ·

A device and method of presenting a stopwatch-like display to a user where the displayed time is different than actual time. The display appears to a casual observer like a stopwatch application, but it is actually a gag that advances time slower, faster and/or in irregular jumps compared to real time. The device permits the user of the device to control the degree and manner in which the time is advanced or retarded using one of a number of different subtle mechanisms that is undetectable to the casual observer, such as through the use of sounds that are inaudible to the human ear. Such a device is useful for amusement, prank or novelty purposes to trick someone into thinking that an amount of time has passed that is different than the actual time that has passed.
