Method and apparatus for classifying a seed as inbred or hybrid
A apparatus for classifying a seed as inbred or hybrid comprises a terahertz signal source for emitting a terahertz signal towards the seed, a detector for detecting at least part of the terahertz signal having interacted with the seed, a scanner for moving the support relative to the terahertz signal to provide a scan of the seed, a data processing device for forming an image data from the detected terahertz signal as obtained for a plurality of positions during the scan of the seed, and a decision support system for providing a classification from the image data. In an embodiment, the terahertz signal source is arranged for emitting a continuous or pulse wave signal, and wherein the detector is arranged for detecting an amplitude and a phase of the terahertz signal having interacted with the seed. A signal representing an outcome of the classification may control a separator to separate seeds according to their classification.
Photo selection for mobile devices
In one embodiment, a computing device receives a request from a mobile device of a user for an image. The computing device determines whether the user is associated with a preferred orientation for viewing an image. The preferred orientation is determined based on the user's usage patterns with respect to a particular application of the mobile device, or to the user's interactions with a social-networking system. If the user is associated with a preferred orientation, the image is adjusted to have the preferred orientation and to match display capabilities of the mobile device sending the request. The adjusted image is sent to the mobile device for display.
Characterizing a vehicle collision
Described herein are examples of a system that processes information describing movement of a vehicle at a time related to a potential collision to reliably determine whether a collision occurred and/or one or more characteristics of the collision. In response to obtaining information regarding a potential collision, data describing movement of the vehicle before and/or after a time associated with the potential collision is analyzed to determine whether the collision occurred and/or to determine one or more collision characteristic(s). The analysis may be carried out at least in part using a trained classifier that classifies the vehicle movement data into one or more classes, where at least some the classes are associated with whether a collision occurred and/or one or more characteristics of a collision. If a collision is determined to be likely, one or more actions may be triggered based on the characteristic(s) of the collision.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR VERTICAL TRAJECTORY DETERMINATION AND AUTOMATIC JUMP DETECTION
The present disclosure provides a jump detection system for inertial measurement unit (IMU) integrated with a barometric altimeter in the same device (IMU-baro). The processor is configured to record time-series data of both a vertical component of the measured IMU-baro acceleration and the estimated vertical velocity of the IMU-baro, detect a potential jump by comparing the vertical component of the measured IMU-baro acceleration to one or more acceleration thresholds, and, validate the potential jump by comparing a difference between a maximum velocity and a minimum velocity within a vicinity of the potential jump in the time-series data of the estimated vertical velocity of the IMU-baro to a velocity threshold.
FAULT DIAGNOSIS METHOD UNDER CONVERGENCE TREND OF CENTER FREQUENCY
The present invention discloses a fault diagnosis method under a convergence trend of a center frequency, including: (1) acquiring a dynamic signal x(t) of a rotary machine equipment; (2) setting initial decomposition parameters of a variational model; (3) decomposing the dynamic signal x(t) by using the variational model with the set initial decomposition parameters, and traversing a signal analysis band and performing iterative decomposition on the dynamic signal x(t) under the guidance of a convergence trend of a center frequency, to obtain optimized modals {m.sub.1 . . . m.sub.n . . . m.sub.N} and corresponding center frequencies {ω.sub.1 . . . ω.sub.n . . . ω.sub.N}; (4) searching a fault related modal m.sub.I, guiding parameter optimization by using a center frequency ω.sub.I of the fault related modal m.sub.I, and retrieving an optimal target component
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TESTING A DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
The invention relates to a method and to a device for testing a driver assistance system for a vehicle in a test environment. Traffic scenario descriptions are determined, which each characterize a certain traffic scenario and comprise at least one parameter, by means of which the traffic scenario in question can be adapted to constraints. The traffic scenario descriptions are stored in a traffic scenario file, in which the at least one parameter is stored in a predefined format. At least one traffic scenario description is selected on the basis of an input of a user and/or specified criteria. Furthermore, a test case is produced on the basis of the at least one selected traffic scenario description and at least one specified value for the at least one parameter. The test case corresponds to a specific realization of the traffic scenario characterized by the at least one selected traffic scenario description, with respect to the at least one specified value of the at least one parameter, and is suitable for producing a test environment in which a driver assistance system can be subjected to a test run. A test run can be carried out using the produced test case.
Forensic verification utilizing forensic markings inside halftones
A forensic verification system extracts a print signature via a print signature extractor from an interior of a halftone contained in an image. The system utilizes a comparator to compare the print signature to a reference signature stored in a registry to determine differences between the print signature and the reference signature. The system utilizes a forensic analyzer to perform a forensic analysis on the signatures based on the comparison to authenticate the image.
Noise-Driven Coupled Dynamic Pattern Recognition Device for Low Power Applications
A pattern recognition device comprising: a coupled network of damped, nonlinear, dynamic elements configured to generate an output response in response to at least one environmental condition, wherein each element has an associated multi-stable potential energy function that defines multiple energy states of an individual element, and wherein the elements are tuned such that environmental noise triggers stochastic resonance between energy levels of at least two elements; a processor configured to monitor the output response over time and to determine a probability that the pattern recognition device is in a given state based on the monitored output response; and detecting a pattern in the at least one environmental condition based on the probability.
Similarity clustering in linear time with error-free retrieval using signature overlap with signature size matching
A method for a processing device to determine whether to assign a data item to at least one cluster of data items is disclosed. The processing device may identify a signature of the data item, the signature including a set of elements. The processing device derive a first size value of the number of elements of the identified signature based on a set of size values of signatures that includes a maximum size value representing the largest number of elements in a signature. The processing device may derive a second size value of the number of elements of a second signature that is similar to the identified signature based on the set of size values of signatures. The processing device may select a subset of the set of elements of the identified signature to form at least one partial signature of the identified signature wherein the number of elements in the partial signature represents the number of elements in common between a signature having the first size value and a second similar signature having the second size value. The processing device may combine the selected subset of elements into at least one token. The processing device may determine whether the at least one token is present in a memory, the memory configured to contain an existing set of tokens. The processing device may determine whether to assign the data item to at least one cluster based on whether the at least one token is present in the memory.
