An image forming apparatus includes a detection unit configured to detect an object, a reception unit configured to receive an operation of a user, and a shifting unit configured to shift, if the detection unit detects an object, a power state of the image forming apparatus from a first power state to a second power state different from the first power state, and shift, if the reception unit receives an operation of a user, the power state of the image forming apparatus from the second power state to the first power state.

The invention provides an alternative applications programming interface (API) for a software application to interface with and to control and coordinate the operation of a variety of specialty devices, including a barcode scanning device and a label printing device. A printing apparatus of the present invention receives a print job from an information processing apparatus and performs printing. The printing apparatus controls to print by inserting a blank page before a page that is received first in the print job, based on a determination that, in the print job, the number of pages per copy is an odd number of pages.

A server system includes a first receiving unit configured to receive, from a printing apparatus operated by a user, a registration request for information regarding the printing apparatus, an acquisition unit configured to acquire information to be used for acquisition of capability information of the printing apparatus, from the printing apparatus that has transmitted the registration request, a transmission unit configured to transmit the acquired information to a different server system, and a second receiving unit configured to receive, from the different server system, capability information of the printing apparatus that is identified by the different server system based on the transmitted information.
