Point of interaction loyalty currency redemption in a transaction
Multiple different non-financial loyalty currencies held by different issuers are used by a consumer as financial tender for a transaction with a merchant. Each issuer pays to a primary issuer the financial currency value of the non-financial loyalty currencies being held in return for a corresponding reduction of the balance of non-financial loyalty currency. For each reduced balance, the primary issuer adds an equivalent primary loyalty currency to a primary loyalty account for the consumer. The primary issuer pays the merchant for the transaction in financial currency and makes an equivalent reduction in the balance of the primary loyalty currency. The financial value of each loyalty currency may be dependent upon its use in a transaction with a competitor of a merchant supplying loyalty currency to the consumer.
Article management system
An article management system according to the present invention includes: a reader antenna (102) including an open-type transmission line terminated in an impedance matched state; an RF tag (104) that is placed at a location that is electromagnetically coupled to the reader antenna (102) and is visible from the reader antenna (102) in a state where a management target article (105) is placed in the vicinity of the RF tag; a management target article arrangement region in which the management target article (105) is placed, the management target article arrangement region being set in a location where the management target article (105) is electromagnetically coupled to a tag antenna of the RF tag (104); and an RFID reader (103) that sends a transmitted signal to the reader antenna (102) and receives a response signal output from the tag antenna via the reader antenna (102).
Device self-calibration and component resolution
Events generated from a terminal are analyzed and a problem associated with a component peripheral of the terminal is identified. Operations and parameters to the operation are obtained to resolve the problem. The operations and parameters are encoded in a code along with security information. The code is provided to a mobile device. The mobile device provides the code back to the terminal. The terminal verifies the security information from the code and decodes the operations and parameters. The operations with the parameters are processed to resolve the problem on the terminal, and the security information and code are logged for auditing.
Image authenticity verification using speech
Verifying the identity of a person claiming to be represented by a picture by way of providing a string of text (randomly generated or generated by another person seeking verification of same) to be recited by the claimant. The string of text is recited in a video which is received by an intermediary server at a network node, or by a person seeking such verification. Automated processes may be utilized to compare the audio and video received to the picture and string of text sent. Further, comparisons to previously received audio, video, and strings of text, as well as the same available from third parties, may be used to determine fraud attempts. Viewers of the person's profile may also vote on the authenticity of a profile, thereby raising or lowering a certification confidence level, with their votes weighted more heavily towards those who have high confidence levels.
Power management circuitry in peripheral accessories of audio devices
A power management circuitry for a peripheral electronic device includes a power regeneration circuitry, a power selector, a power switch and an audio signal detection circuitry. The power regeneration circuitry receives a continuous periodic sound wave from an audio device and converts the continuous periodic sound wave into an amplified DC electrical signal. The power source selector receives the amplified DC electrical signal and input from a primary power source and provides a power signal output. The audio signal detection circuitry receives the amplified DC electrical signal and transmits a wake-up signal to the power switch circuitry. The power switch circuitry is turned on by the wake-up signal and connects the power source selector to the peripheral electronic device main circuitry and transfers the power signal output to the peripheral electronic device main circuitry.
Portable object and information transmission system
A portable object (10) comprises an integrated circuit (11), a first pad (12) that is mechanically and electrically connected to the integrated circuit (11) and a second pad (13) that is mechanically and electrically connected to the integrated circuit (11). The portable object (10) is designed for data transfer by capacitive coupling of the first pad (12) to a first conducting line (33) and of the second pad (13) to a second conducting line (34), when the portable object (10) is brought in vicinity to the first and the second conducting line (33, 34).
Information bearing medium and information processing system
An information processing system includes an information bearing medium and an information reading unit. The information bearing medium has a two-dimensional array of unit data zones. Marks are provided on some of the unit data zones so as to form a digital code. Mark patterns of any two Y-directional adjacent unit data zone strings based on the arrangement of marks in an X-direction differ from each other. The information reading unit generates a data string on the basis of a unit signal formed from a plurality of signals output from a group of detection units that detect the marks in synchronization and recognizes the digital code of the information bearing medium on the basis of a group of the data strings sequentially obtained from the array of the unit data zones.

Authentication method and system
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for the production and labeling of objects in a manner suitable for the prevention and detection of counterfeiting. Thus, the system incorporates a variety of features that make unauthorized reproduction difficult. In addition, the present invention provides a system and method for providing a dynamically reconfigurable watermark, and the use of the watermark to encode a stochastically variable property of the carrier medium for self-authentication purposes.
System, method, and computer program product for issuing and using debit cards
A system, method, and computer program product are used to issue and track debit cards. A system comprises an enrolling system that verifies an enrollee, associates an enrollee's main and overdraft account, and issues a debit card, an authentication system that receives information regarding a requested transaction of a debit card and that receives information regarding the main and overdraft account associated with the debit card and accepts or rejects the requested transaction based thereon, and a settlement system that generates a periodic report of at least one of the transactions, the main account, and the overdraft account. The overdraft account can be a charge or credit account.
