Modular people counters

An exemplary embodiment of a modular people counter includes a base and a communications module. The base has a people counter processor, memory, a power supply having one or more batteries, a passive sensor that detects whether a badge and/or a person has entered into a selected area and is within the sensing range and a first connector. The first connector is in circuit communication with the people counter processor. The communications module has a second connector for connecting to the first connector and wireless communications circuitry. The wireless communications module is configured to receive one or more signals from the people counter processor when the first connector is connected to the second connector.

CARGO MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A method of monitoring a cargo area includes receiving sound data at a sound sensor situated in a cargo area, analyzing the sound data, and reporting a condition of the cargo area based on the analysis. A monitoring system for a cargo area is also disclosed.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING WAIT TIMES

A system is provided and generally includes a server, an associate computing device, and a customer computing device. The server may receive data from the customer computing device indicating that a customer is picking up items from a predetermined location. The server may compute an estimated wait time for the customer based on one or more machine learning processes. In some examples, a number of unexpected customers that may arrive is determined. The machine learning process may compute the estimated wait time based on the number of unexpected customers. The machine learning process may be trained with historical data. The estimated wait time is transmitted to the customer computing device, and is displayed to the customer. In some examples, the server sends a list of customers waiting to be serviced to the associate computing device. The list may be prioritized based on estimated wait times for those customers.

VIRTUAL QUEUING TECHNIQUES

The virtual queue system includes a virtual queue controller comprising a processor and a memory, wherein the memory stores instructions executable by the processor and is configured to receive a request, the request being associated with an individual guest, for a position in a virtual queue of an attraction, assign the individual guest to the position in the virtual queue in response to the request, receive ride schedule data for the attraction comprising information about a change in status of individual rides of the attraction, and determine a wait time for the individual guest for the attraction based at least on the position of the individual guest in the virtual queue, the ride schedule data, and historical guest throughput at the attraction. The virtual queue system is further configured to output a signal to a guest-associated device indicating the wait time for the attraction.

System and Method for Providing Location-Based Data on a Wireless Portable Device

There is provided a wireless portable device for providing location-based data to a user in a defined geographical area including a plurality of points of interest, the wireless portable device comprising a wireless transmitter, a wireless receiver, and a display. The wireless transmitter can transmit location information to a wireless server over a wireless network. The wireless receiver can receive location-based data relating to a point of interest from the wireless server periodically and automatically, based on the location of the wireless portable device. By optimizing map routes and schedules using the location-based data and user preferences including wish lists, the wireless portable device can provide helpful recommendations via the display, enabling the user to plan an efficient schedule of activities in the defined geographical area optimized by walking distance, queue wait times, booking and arriving at reserved events, and/or by other user preferences.
