A smart vend motor is described which may be deployed in a standard snack and candy vending machine, a coin and bill dispensing machine, or the like. Each smart vending motor has a local smart control able to determine if its corresponding smart vending motor has been selected for energization from a signal sent to multiple vend motors. This smart controller can also control operation of multiple additional devices, such as LEDs to light products, consumer information displays, and product drop detectors. In some applications, vending of multiple vend motors at the same time is supported.

An embodiment of this disclosure provides a money item dispensing apparatus comprising: a money item track operable to receive a money item and transport the money item, a denominator configured to determine a denomination of the money item on the money item track, a rotatable money item canister operable to receive the money item in a tube of a plurality of tubes, and a diverter gate configured to divert the money item to the tube, the tube corresponding to the denomination of the money item.

An embodiment of this disclosure provides a money item dispensing apparatus comprising: a money item track operable to receive a money item and transport the money item, a denominator configured to determine a denomination of the money item on the money item track, a rotatable money item canister operable to receive the money item in a tube of a plurality of tubes, and a diverter gate configured to divert the money item to the tube, the tube corresponding to the denomination of the money item.

Chip sorting devices may include at least one chip collection tube having at least one adjustable wall that at least partially defines an inner diameter of the at least one chip collection tube. The at least one adjustable wall may be at least partially rotatable to define different inner diameters. Chip sorting devices may include a chip hopper having a relief mechanism for clearing chips that become jammed between a chip chamber and a base plate of the chip hopper. Methods of sorting chips may include actuating the relief mechanism to increase a space between a top plate of the relief mechanism and the chip chamber. Methods of setting up a chip sorting device may include adjusting an inner lateral dimension of the at least one chip collection tube.

The control unit 12 performs the dispensing process of the money at an arbitrary timing after certain process of the money is performed.

A coin input to a deposit opening is determined a denomination by a coin identifying device, and is allocated and held in a denomination storing and dispensing device in a course of being transported to a coin transporting and distributing device. The coin of a specified denomination is sent from the denomination storing and dispensing device based on a pay-out command, and paid out to a pay-out opening by a pay out transporting device. When the holding amount of the denomination storing and dispensing device becomes full, the coin is not allocated to the denomination storing and dispensing device by the coin transporting and distributing device, but is dropped to an overflow coin slot, guided to an overflow coin guiding tube juxtaposed to the denomination storing and dispensing device and held in an overflow coin storing unit arranged on the lower side of the denomination storing and dispensing device.
