A sanitizing apparatus for sanitizing sheets, typically currency bills, has a housing defining a sanitizing chamber with an inlet and an outlet for the ingress and egress, respectively, of the currency bills. An intake conveyor conveys the currency bills into the sanitizing chamber into the sanitizing chamber and an outlet conveyor is arranged in the sanitizing chamber along a conveying direction and spaced away from the intake conveyor across a gap therebetween. An upper ultra-violet (UV) lamp is located above the gap and a lower UV light is arranged below the gap. An electrical system causes the upper UV lamp and the lower UV lamp to direct UV light onto an upper surface and a lower surface of the currency bills they are conveyed into the sanitizing chamber and travel across the gap, the UV light being selected to have an intensity to sanitize the currency bills as they pass through the sanitizing apparatus.

Provided is a small-sized money processing machine that is easy to use in a store. A money processing machine used for settlement of a transaction performed in a store, includes: a banknote processing unit that performs depositing and dispensing of banknotes; a coin processing unit that performs depositing and dispensing of coins; and an accommodation unit that accommodates components to be connected to at least one of the banknote processing unit and the coin processing unit. The banknote processing unit, the coin processing unit, and the accommodation unit are disposed in a housing so as to be vertically aligned.

A sheet storing apparatus, includes: an inlet section configured to take in sheets from outside of the apparatus into the apparatus; a storing unit configured to mount a storage bag in a storing area of the storage unit; and a recognition unit configured to count the number of sheets to be stored in the storage bag mounted in the storing area of the storing unit, in which the storing unit includes: a holding section configured to hold the storage bag mounted in the storing area of the storing unit; a support section configured to support the sheets stored in the storage bag from below via the storage bag; a drive section configured to move up and down the support section between an initial position and a final position; and a control section configured to control the drive section, based on the number of sheets counted by the recognition unit.

Security flaps for use with cash trays and cash trays including such security flaps are disclosed. An apparatus includes a cash tray having a base and a plurality of walls that extend from the base and define a plurality of paper-currency compartments. A plurality of distal edges of the walls define openings of the paper-currency compartments. A spring-biased security flap is coupled to the cash tray and adapted to engage or be immediately adjacent the distal edges of the walls of at least one of the paper-currency compartments to cover the corresponding opening.

A sterilizing media cassette is described for docking with a self-service terminal or a docking terminal. The sterilizing media cassette has a body having a lower portion and four sides. The body is adapted to hold a stack of media items such as banknotes on support members positioned above the lower portion of the body. A lid is provided that couples to the body. The lid forms an enclosed inner space when coupled to the body. An ozone gas source and/or a heat source is mounted on an inner surface of the body or the inner surface of the lid. A controller activates the ozone gas source and/or a heat source to sterilize the stack of media items. This may be done for a predetermined fixed period of time after the sterilizing media cassette is docked with a self-service terminal or a docking terminal.

The automated teller machine that conducts transactions by a customer operation is provided. The automated teller machine comprises a customer service part configured to receive customer operations; an input pocket; a media recognizer configured to recognize the medium; a first storage storing the medium; a discharge pocket configured to place the medium delivered from the first storage so that the customer can take the medium out; a first transport path that connect the input pocket, the media recognizer, the first storage, and the discharge pocket to transport the medium; a second storage storing a collected medium that is forgotten to be taken out from the discharge pocket by the customer; and a second transport path connecting the second storage to the first transport path, wherein the second storage is arranged above the first transport paths and on an opposite side of the customer service part.

A graphical user interface (GUI) and operator console management system for a distributed terminal network is described. In some embodiments, the terminals may be hardware terminals, kiosks, or clients. In some embodiments, a security analysis may be performed, and security scores may be determined, for visitors requesting operations at terminals based on an operator configuration. Security scores may be determined by a provider, in communication with the operator terminals, based on aggregation of a plurality of factors, wherein each factor may be weighted. The factors may incorporate operator settings or preferences. In one embodiment, the factors include one or more facial recognition factors. The one or more facial recognition factors may be used for biometric authentication. The provider may use the security scores to determine user privileges or permissions for the operations. The provider may deliver instructions or messages to the terminals based on the determinations.

Described in example embodiments herein are techniques for implementing an automated banking machine such as an ATM. An example embodiments, tracks the flow of a note through an ATM. Another emobidment corrects errors detected during a note flow. Some embodiments are in the form of security protocols for communications or other communication protocols, or techniques for monitoring devices operating in the ATM. Yet another example embodiment is directed to security of a currency cassette. Still yet another embodiment is directed to detecting tampering of the ATM's gate and/or shuttle. Yet still another embodiment determines if notes in a shuttle were delivered.

Described in example embodiments herein are techniques for implementing an automated banking machine such as an ATM. An example embodiments, tracks the flow of a note through an ATM. A modular ATM is disclosed herein and can include a safe with a first port, at least one currency cassette and dispenser both positioned in the safe, a recycler, and a plurality of linking transport assemblies. The dispenser can move banknotes between the cassette and the first port. The recycler can be positioned on the safe, have second and third ports, and move banknotes between the second and third ports. The recycler can be positionable in a plurality of different orientations and offsets relative to the safe. The plurality of linking transport assemblies can each be individually engageable with the recycler. Each of the linking transport assembly moves banknotes between the first port of the safe and the second port of the recycler. Each linking transport assembly is individually positionable between the safe and the recycler.
