A machine for filling cash boxes insertable into and extractable from the machine, including internally a portion for housing storage containers containing a cash reserve intended to fill the cash boxes, laterally to said inner storage containers a device for receiving and moving a cash box is arranged, the device for receiving and moving the cash box being equipped with at least means for vertical movement of the cash box between a raised position, adapted for inserting and extracting it into and from the machine, and a lowered position, at a lower height with respect to that of the inner storage containers present in the machine, the device also being equipped with means for horizontal movement of the cash box between the lowered position and a position distanced from it, arranged under the inner storage containers present in the machine.

A charity box device is provided which counts the acts of charity and the dollar amounts inserted by the users of the device by inserting coins into the coin counter. The device then relays the total counts of acts of charity and dollar amounts to a remote database, which may be on a website that is accessible for the user from any computer or internet device. The apparatus includes a body, a display, two or more currency dispensing components, two or more currency cartridges, two or more tracks, and a controller. Each currency dispensing component is dedicated to a specific currency denomination. The two or more currency cartridges are configured to store currency. Each currency cartridge dedicated to a specific currency denomination. Each track extends between a currency dispensing component and a currency cartridge. The two or more tracks are configured to transmit currency from the two or more currency cartridges to the two or more currency dispensing components. The controller is in communication with the display, the two or more currency dispensing components, the two or more currency cartridges, and the two or more tracks.

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for processing financial instruments in ATMs or other processing devices. A user can deposit financial instruments, such as cash or a check, into the ATM, to be processed to determine the monetary value of the financial instruments. Once counted and valued, the financial instruments can be dropped into an escrow chamber. The escrow chamber can have a door or gate such that the financial instruments are visible, but not accessible during the transaction. If the customer discovers an error during the transaction, the door or gate can transition to an open state allowing the customer to retrieve the financial instruments.

An item drop box sensor system for detecting items deposited within a drop box may be configured to detect movement of an item deposit tray and to detect items deposited within the drop box. The drop box sensor system may comprise one or more tray movement sensors for detecting movement of the deposit tray, one or more item detection sensors configured to detect items passing into the drop box via the deposit tray, and an onboard controller for selectively activating the various sensors to conserve power and for transmitting data indicative of the status of the drop box to a central server configured for scheduling item pickups for various geographically spaced drop boxes.
