A coin processing device 1 includes a coin sorting unit 3, a coin housing unit 2, and a harness 4. The coin housing unit has a first connector 21 including a first terminal TH2, a second terminal TL1, and a first ground terminal TG1. The coin sorting unit includes: a second connector 31 coupled to the first connector through the harness, the second connector 31 including the third terminal TH4 to which a high voltage is supplied through the first terminal, a fourth terminal TL2 configured to supply a low voltage to the second terminal, and a second ground terminal TG2 grounded through the first ground terminal; a low-voltage power source circuit 32 configured to generate the low voltage from the high voltage supplied to the third terminal, and configured to output the low voltage from a low-voltage output terminal 32t; and a switch circuit 34. The switch circuit disconnects electrical connection between the low-voltage output terminal and the fourth terminal in a case where a difference between a voltage at the second ground terminal and a voltage at the low-voltage output terminal has been less than a threshold value.

A money handling apparatus includes: a first storage unit and a second storage unit; a transport unit; a recognition unit; and a control unit configured to transport the money in the first storage unit by the transport unit, recognize the money by the recognition unit, transport a part of the money from the first storage unit to the second storage unit based on a result of recognition to store money of predetermined denominations, for which a quantity of money of each denomination is set in advance, in the second storage unit. The control unit detects a shortage denomination of money in the first storage unit, and stores money of the shortage denomination larger in quantity than the quantity set in advance for the shortage denomination, into the second storage unit.

A coin separation device comprises a conveying device for conveying coins in a conveying direction out of an input container along a conveying section and a testing device which is arranged on the conveying section for recognizing a coin type of a coin which is conveyed along the conveying section. An accelerating device is provided which is configured to accelerate a coin conveyed along the conveying section in dependence on recognition by the testing device in such a manner that the coin is conveyed from the conveying section into a coin collecting device, wherein the accelerating device is configured, in dependence on the coin type of the coin recognized by the testing device, to act upon the coin for acceleration.

A money handling apparatus includes a banknote handling assembly, a coin handling assembly, and a first operation surface having a banknote inlet portion, a banknote outlet portion, a coin inlet portion, and a coin outlet portion and facing a front direction in a front-back direction of the money handling apparatus. The banknote inlet portion and the coin inlet portion are aligned and the banknote outlet portion and the coin outlet portion are aligned in a right-left direction of the money handling apparatus, which is perpendicular to the front-back direction. The banknote inlet portion and the banknote outlet portion overlap and the coin inlet portion and the coin outlet portion overlap in the up-down direction of the money handling apparatus, which is perpendicular to the right-left direction and perpendicular to the front-back direction.

The money handling system includes: a money handling device that is installed in a property accommodating first and second financial institutions and that is configured to perform a first money handling process for a transaction of the first financial institution and a second money handling process for a transaction of the second financial institution; and a computer configured to manage information about the money stored in the money handling device, and configured to distinguish, as the management, between money belonging to the first financial institution and money belonging to the second financial institution, wherein the computer updates the information about the money of the first financial institution in a case where the money handling device performs the first money handling process, and updates the information about the money of the second financial institution in a case where the money handling device performs the second money handling process.

A coin handling apparatus and method that easily reduce the remaining of a coin in a storage are provided. The coin handling apparatus includes a first storage that stores one or more coins, is equipped with a door configured to be opened and closed, and configured to discharge the stored one or more coins by opening the door; a transport unit that transports the one or more coins discharged from the first storage; a recognition unit that recognizes the one or more coins transported by the transport unit; and a control unit that, in response to receiving a withdrawal instruction, executes withdrawal control to open the door and, based on a recognition result by the recognition unit, to control the transport unit to transport one or more withdrawal target coins to a withdrawal unit, the one or more withdrawal target coins being among the one or more coins discharged from the first storage. When the control unit determines in the withdrawal control that not all of the one or more coins have been discharged from the first storage based on the number of the one or more coins recognized by the recognition unit, the control unit executes retry control to open the door again.

A media processing device comprises a transport surface along which a medium is transported, and a transporter having a contact portion with which the medium comes into contact, the contact portion pushing and transporting the medium. The transport surface includes a first transport surface along which the medium is transported by the transporter, and a second transport surface that is located downstream of the first transport surface in a transport direction of the transporter, the second transport surface along which the medium separated from the contact portion is transported. The contact portion moves in a different direction which is different from the transport direction relative to the first transport surface on a downstream side of the first transport surface. A cash handling apparatus is configured to be used for cash handling by a predetermined store and another store different from the predetermined store. The cash handling apparatus includes: a cash handling unit configured to handle cash; and a control unit configured to control the cash handling unit to perform cash handling including a depositing process of storing, into the apparatus, cash received from outside the apparatus, and a dispensing process of discharging cash stored in the apparatus to outside the apparatus, such that the control unit determines whether a store that performs the cash handling is the predetermined store or the other store, and in a case where the store is the other store, the control unit restricts the dispensing process, based on a predetermined dispensing restriction.

A coin hopper for dispensing coins includes a container for holding coins, an exit channel for outputting a target number of coins, and a dispensing unit. The dispensing unit features a rotatable transport plate with multiple coin pockets, facilitating the transfer of coins from the container to the exit channel. These pockets accommodate coins of different sizes, with a first pocket for coins of a first size and a second pocket for coins of a second size. An adjustable cover on the transport plate allows selective exposure of the pockets to the container. The cover can move between two configurations: one exposing the first pocket while blocking the second, and the other exposing the second pocket while blocking the first. This design enables the coin hopper to dispense a target number of coins of varying sizes.

A coin handling system includes: a first apparatus configured to handle at least coins; a second apparatus configured to handle coins and be, by itself, unable to transmit coin information regarding coins handled by the second apparatus, to a banking server; and an output apparatus configured to output transaction identification information for identifying a coin transaction in the second apparatus, the second apparatus transmits the coin information and the transaction identification information outputted by the output apparatus, to the first apparatus, and when the first apparatus receives the coin information and the transaction identification information from the second apparatus, the first apparatus transmits the coin information and customer identification information for identifying a customer associated with the transaction identification information, to the banking server.
