A coin handling apparatus comprises an inlet section that is provided on customer side of the coin handling apparatus and from which the coins are put in, a recognition unit that recognizes the coins put in from the inlet section, and a first ejection section that is provided on attendant side of the coin handling apparatus and to which the coins recognized as rejected coins by the recognition unit are ejected.

A coin feeding apparatus comprising: a disk that includes a plurality of protrusions on a surface of the disk, is disposed to be inclined and rotatable, and, when rotating, causes a first coin or a second coin to be caught on and carried upward by the plurality of protrusions, the second coin having a diameter greater than that of the first coin; a cover that forms, between the cover and a surface of the disk, a space for storing a coin therein; and a separation unit that separates one coin out of two of the first coins from the plurality of protrusions so as to cause the one coin to fall into the space, the two first coins being caught on the plurality of protrusions side by side.

A cash handling apparatus includes a composite body that consists of a plurality of connected modules, slide rails with which the composite body is drawn out of a housing, and a holding part that is fixed to two or more adjacent surfaces among four outer surfaces of the composite body and holds the plurality of modules together.

One object is to efficiently identify number of transactions that can be performed by using an inventory amount of money inside a change machine and to improve the business efficiency. A POS register (290) transmits a total amount request to a change machine (200) connected thereto (Step S11). Upon receiving the total amount request from the POS register (290), a change machine (200) transmits to the POS register (290) a total amount of money that can be dispensed as change and that is calculated based on an inventory amount of one or more predetermined denominations (Step S12). The POS register (290) receives the total amount from the change machine (200) (Step S13) and calculates number of transactions for which the change can be dispensed by calculating how many times is the total amount of the maximum change amount (JPY9, 999) for one transaction (Step S14). Therefore, the salesclerk can confirm the number of transactions and can use this information as a factor to determine a timing of replenishing the change.

In order to drop a coin into an opening formed in a transport path for sorting coins, a coin handling apparatus includes: a transport path having a transport surface in which the opening for dropping a coin is formed; a conveyor configured to transport a coin on the transport surface along the transport path; a gate including a plurality of members configured to move between a closed position for closing the opening such that a coin transported by the conveyor is not dropped into the opening, and an opened position for opening the opening such that the coin is dropped into the opening; and a drive motor configured to drive the plurality of members to control the gate to move between the closed position and the opened position.

A checkout apparatus according to an embodiment includes a housing, a bill change machine housed in the housing to be capable of being drawn out from the housing, a coin change machine housed in the housing to be capable of being drawn out from the housing in a same direction as a direction in which the bill change machine is drawn out, and a lock unit configured to, if the bill change machine was drawn out, lock the coin change machine to be unable to be drawn out and, if the coin change machine was drawn out, lock the bill change machine to be unable to be drawn out.

A checkout device includes a change machine into which coins can be inserted and from which coins can be dispensed, the change machine being configured to count a number of inserted coins for each denomination, a memory that stores a first number indicating a total number of coins that can be accepted in a single transaction for each denomination, and a processor configured to: acquire, from the change machine, a number of coins inserted in a transaction for each denomination, determine whether the number of the inserted coins exceeds the first number for each denomination, and upon determining that the number of the inserted coins exceeds the first number for a denomination, control the change machine to dispense a second number of coins of the denomination exceeding the first number.
