A paper sheet processing method that is to be employed by a paper sheet processing device. The paper sheet processing method involves acquiring image information for a paper sheet, transmitting the acquired image information to an external character recognition device, receiving the results of character recognition by the character recognition device from the character recognition device, and using the results of the character recognition by the character recognition device to process the paper sheet.

MAGNETIC SENSOR DEVICE

In a magnetic sensor device, a sheet-like detection object transported along a transport plane is magnetized by a magnetizing magnet that forms a magnetization magnetic field in which magnitude of a magnetic field component parallel to the transport plane is larger than or equal to a saturation magnetic field of a second magnetic body having a second coercivity larger than a first coercivity. The magnetic sensor device includes: a bias magnet that forms a bias magnetic field in which magnitude of a magnetic field component parallel to the plane of the detection object is larger than the first coercivity and less than the second coercivity in the bias magnetic field at the plane of the detection object; and a magnetoresistive effect element chip disposed at the bias magnet and facing the plane of the detection object.

A security element comprising a first and a second pattern formed in or on a substrate is described, the first pattern (105; 205) being formed by discrete elements (105a-105g; 205a-205c) of a first material that are distributed over a first region (101) of the substrate (100; 200), the second pattern (106; 206) being formed by discrete elements (106a-106i; 206a-206c) of a second material that are distributed over a second region (102) of the substrate (100; 200), said second material being different from said first material, said first and second regions of the substrate overlapping, wherein the discrete elements of at least one of the first and second patterns are distributed randomly, a part of the discrete elements of the first pattern (105; 205) overlap with a part of the discrete elements of said second pattern (106; 206), and the security element is defined by the first pattern (105; 205), the second pattern (106; 206) and a third pattern (107; 207) associated with the overlap of some or all of the discrete elements of said first and second patterns.

VALUE DOCUMENT HAVING SECURITY MARKING AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING THE SECURITY MARKING

A value document has a security marking in the form of at least two luminescing substances which are present in a defined relative quantitative share and are jointly excitable by one excitation pulse. The time courses of the intensities are different and at least one luminescing substance has a non-monoexponential time course. In a method for identifying the security marking, the time course of the total intensity is detected and a linear combination of a formula is adapted including time courses of the intensities of the luminescing substances. The security marking is identified on the basis of the linear coefficients.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING THE VERIFICATION OF A SECURITY DOCUMENT BY MEANS OF A TOUCHSCREEN

In order to support the verification of a security document, the document is placed on a verification device having a touchscreen. A conductive structure embedded in the document is detected by the touchscreen and the position and orientation of a window in the document is calculated therefrom. The verification device then displays an image positioned and rotated to appear at the location of the window. The image may interact with the document to generate Moir patterns, fluorescent images or animations.
