The control unit controls the conveyance path such that when the medium is replenished through the transit cassette, the medium recognized as the normal banknote by the identification unit, among the mediums stored in the transit cassette, is temporarily stored in the temporary holding unit, and among the mediums temporarily stored in the temporary holding unit, the medium recognized as the normal banknote by the identification unit is transferred to the transit cassette.

An automated teller machine includes: a main body having an entrance; a reception unit; a temporary holding unit; an identification unit; a recycle cassette; a reject cassette; a deposit cassette; a utility cassette disposed in a lower portion of the main body; a conveyance path through which the medium is conveyed; and a control unit. The control unit controls the conveyance path such that when the medium is recovered through the recovery transit cassette, the medium recognized as the normal banknote by the identification unit, among the mediums stored in the deposit cassette and the recycle cassette, is temporarily stored in the temporary holding unit, and among the mediums temporarily stored in the temporary holding unit, the medium recognized as the normal banknote by the identification unit is recovered to the recovery transit cassette.

Donation receiving apparatus has a denomination discriminator interfacing a storage area. The denomination discriminator has at least one sensor for sensing at least one physical characteristic of currency passing therethrough. A device controller interfaces a mobile communication device interface and the denomination discriminator. In use, the device controller establishes communication with the mobile communication device, detects a denomination using the at least one physical characteristic and transmits the denomination to the mobile communication device. The mobile communication device may execute an application controller which displays a graphical user interface on a digital display thereof which may display the denomination.

The present invention is directed to providing to a bundle module of a medium deposit device capable of not only arranging leading ends of rejected bill media which are returned to the bundle module but also preventing collision between a leading medium and a following medium and a jam occurrence of the media according to the collision. In the present invention to implement the objectives, a bundle module of the medium deposit device, in which deposit media in units of bundles are input or which receives rejected bill media in units of bundles, includes a transfer path which provides a deposit path or reject path of media, a first belt which is provided above the transfer path and rotatably driven, a second belt which is provided under the transfer path and rotatably driven and on which the media are loaded and stacked, and a guide unit which is provided at one side of the first belt to provide a transfer surface for the deposited or rejected media, wherein, when the media are rejected, the guide unit rotates to be inclined downward toward one side so that a leading end portion of a rejected following medium is positioned on and overlaps a rear end portion of a rejected leading medium.

A paper sheet processing device includes: an input unit into which paper sheets are input from the outside; an identification unit for identifying the paper sheets fed out from the input unit while allowing them to pass through in a first direction and identifying the paper sheets while allowing them to pass through in a second direction opposite to the first direction; a temporary storage unit for temporarily storing the paper sheets identified as being acceptable by the identification unit; a payout unit for accommodating the paper sheets identified as being unacceptable by the identification unit so as to be able to be taken out to the outside; and a storage unit for storing the paper sheets fed out from the temporary storage unit and identified by the identification unit while being allowed to pass through the identification unit in the second direction, wherein the paper sheets fed out from the temporary storage unit and identified by the identification unit while being allowed to pass through the identification unit in the second direction can be transferred to the input unit.

An identification apparatus or system includes an estimation unit that estimates an operating distance between the surface of an optical device and an imaging unit as an estimated value. A reference distance refers to the distance between a first face of an identification target and the imaging unit and at which light diffracted by a diffraction grating is capable of being recorded by the imaging unit. A first determination unit is included that determines whether the estimated value matches the reference distance and a second determination unit that determines whether an image captured by the imaging unit matches a reference image. Conditions for identifying the optical device as the identification target include a condition that the first determination unit determines that the estimated value matches the reference distance and a condition that the second determination unit determines that the image captured by the imaging unit matches the reference image.

A transactional currency sanitizer which includes an enclosure, a deposit device on the enclosure for depositing the currency into said enclosure, an ultraviolet radiation-producing (UV) device with at least two spaced-apart UV light emitters, and a retrieval device on the enclosure for retrieving the currency from said enclosure. The deposit device is configured to receive the currency and pass the currency between the at least two spaced-apart UV light emitters to sanitize both sides of the currency and the retrieval device is configured to accept the sanitized currency from between said device at least two spaced-apart UV light emitters and to provide the sanitized currency for retrieval from said enclosure.

A method and system of validating cash transactions which comprises capturing a unique identifier of a banknote, storing the unique identifier against a user identity of a user; and upon receiving the banknote as tender for payment, checking the unique identifier of the banknote against the user identity, requesting an authorization for release of the banknote for payment, and in response to receiving a successful authorization, transmitting an accept banknote message and in response to a failed authorization, transmitting a decline banknote message.

A banknote processing device comprises a banknote transport path defined at least in part by a transport plate on one side of the banknote transport path, the banknote transport plate being pivotally mounted about a first axis near an upstream end of the transport plate, the transport plate including a working position and an open position, a display assembly being pivotally mounted about a second axis spaced a defined distance apart from the first axis, the display assembly including an operational position and a non-operational position, and a linkage coupled to display assembly and to the transport plate near a downstream end of the transport plate, wherein, when the display assembly is rotated from the operational position to the non-operational position, the linkage causes the transport plate to move from the working position to the open position.

The determination device selects a plurality of determination areas included in the captured image, acquires determination data based on a line-segment image included in each of the determination areas, compares the acquired determination data between two determination areas, and acquires, based on a result of the comparison, a determination value for determining a printing method used to produce the printed surface of the printed product, and determines, based on the determination value, a printing method used to produce the printed surface of the printed product.
