Existing currency validation (CVAL) devices, systems, and methods are too slow, costly, intrusive, and/or bulky to be routinely used in common transaction locations (e.g., at checkout, at an automatic teller machine, etc.). Presented herein are devices, systems, and methods to facilitate optical validation of documents, merchandise, or currency at common transaction locations and to do so in an obtrusive and convenient way. More specifically, the present invention embraces a validation device that may be used alone or integrated within a larger system (e.g., point of sale system, kiosk, etc.). The present invention also embraces methods for currency validation using the validation device, as well as methods for improving the quality and consistency of data captured by the validation device for validation.
AUTOMATED MACHINE PROVIDED WITH A BILL ACCEPTOR FOR DRIVING A DRIVE DEVICE
An automated machine 1 is provided to comprise a communications device 5 for receiving remotely operable signals emitted from a mobile terminal 10 to produce monetary signals corresponding to money amount data in the remotely operable signals, a bill acceptor 4 for validating bills inserted from the outside to produce the monetary signals when bill acceptor 4 judges the inserted bill to be genuine and for relaying the monetary signals from communications device 5, a control device 8 that has built-in program software to produce drive signals of the amount corresponding to the monetary signals in accordance with the program software when control device 8 receives the monetary signals from bill acceptor 4. In another aspect, communications device 5 may receive the remotely operable signals emitted from mobile terminal 10 to produce the monetary signals corresponding to the money amount data in the remotely operable signals and receive the monetary signals from bill acceptor 4 and send them to control device 8.
FLUORESCENCE/PHOSPHORESCENCE DETECTION DEVICE, PAPER SHEET PROCESSING DEVICE, AND FLUORESCENCE/PHOSPHORESCENCE DETECTION METHOD
The present disclosure relates to a fluorescence/phosphorescence detector that detects fluorescence and phosphorescence emitted from a transported sheet, including: a light source configured to irradiate a transported sheet with light; a light receiver configured to receive fluorescence and phosphorescence emitted from the sheet and output fluorescence data and phosphorescence data; and a controller configured to control the light source and acquire fluorescence data and phosphorescence data from the light receiver, the controller being configured to turn on the light source in a first predetermined period, turn on the light source in a second predetermined period after the first predetermined period, keep the light source turned off for a third predetermined period after the second predetermined period, acquire fluorescence data on fluorescence received by the light receiver in the second predetermined period, and acquire phosphorescence data on phosphorescence received by the light receiver in the third predetermined period.
System for wear and aging evaluation of a paper-based resource
A system for wear and aging evaluation of a paper-based resource described herein is structured for determining a fitness state of a physical body structure of a paper resource item and for adaptive processing of the paper resource item in accordance with the fitness state. Specifically, the system comprises an item transfer unit configured to receive one or more paper resource items and a scanning device structured to retrieve a fitness state of a paper resource item from a physical state sensing component of the paper resource item. The system is structured to adaptively process the paper resource item based on determining whether (i) a wear level and (ii) an item age level of the paper resource item are associated with either a fit item type or an unfit item type.
Medium processing device and automatic transaction device
A medium processing device includes a first, second and third conveyance path, a classification section, a first, second and third switching unit, a first, second and third storage box and a controller. Each of the first, second and third conveyance paths has two ends. One end of the first conveyance path is connected to one end of the third conveyance path. One end of the second conveyance path is connected to the other end of the third conveyance path at a second side of the classification section opposite to the first side. The other end of the first conveyance path is connected to the other end of the second conveyance path. The controller controls the first conveyance path and the second conveyance path so that the first and second conveyance paths are driven independently from each other.
Banknote monitoring apparatus, banknote monitoring system, and banknote monitoring method
A banknote monitoring apparatus includes a reception section that receives information including a serial number from each of a plurality of banknote processing apparatuses processing a banknote with the serial number; and a control section that determines whether a specification of the banknote has been changed based on an identification rate of the serial number obtainable with the information received.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING A MANIPULATION OR FORGERY OF AN OBJECT AND SYSTEM THEREFOR
A method for determining a manipulation or forgery of an object which is identified with a graphical representation of an information, wherein the graphical representation of the information forms light and dark regions and the object has a surface having a contrasting, irregular microstructure. A system is also related, the system being suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention.
MACHINE-READABLE POLYMER SECURITY THREADS
A method and associated system for authentication, including irradiating an item including a polymer security thread including a polymer material and a doping material within the polymer material and configured to produce a radiation spectrum in response to the irradiating, the doping material capable of absorbing, scattering, or emitting radiation, and detecting the produced radiation spectrum to confirm the presence of the polymer security thread.
BANKNOTE PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHODS
A banknote processing device includes an output receptacle module, including side walls, each side wall including a flange, wherein each flange includes an aperture, a first transport plate, and a transport motor. The banknote processing device further includes a common input and discrimination module including a shaft releasably received in the aperture of each flange of the side walls of the output receptacle module, a drive shaft having one or more driven rollers coupled thereto, and a second transport plate which together with the first transport plate defines a transport path between the first and second transport plates, wherein the one or more driven rollers move banknotes along the transport path between the second and first transport plates.
