In a banknote processing system 1000, a slot machine G10 is configured to read to which currency type an accommodated banknote T belongs and to send a currency type signal to a management server 260 configured to store location information specifying an installation location of each of slot machines G10, to store the slot machine G10 which has sent the currency type signal, in association with a currency type indicated by the currency type signal, to specify the slot machine G10 associated with a predetermined currency type, and to present the installation location of the specified slot machine G10.

A sanitizing system for sanitizing currency bills at a retailer has a sanitizing apparatus that has an inlet for the insertion therethrough currency bills by a customer, the sanitizing apparatus including a reader for reading the currency bills to establish the total monetary value thereof, and for issuing a receipt to the customer reflecting the total monetary value. A reader located adjacent a cash register at the retailer reads the receipt and accepts the total monetary value as cash tender for merchandize being purchased. A counterfeit detector tests the currency bills and rejects currency bills that do not meet predetermined genuine criteria.

An ATM equipped with forensic card reader identification validation is provided. The ATM may include a real ID card slot. The real ID card slot may accept real ID cards. The ATM may include a call communications module. The call communications module may communicate with a third-party network. Upon insertion of a real ID card at the ATM, the ATM may retrieve security details from the real ID card. The ATM may transmit the security details to the third-party network via the call communications module. The third-party network may verify the security details with one or more databases which are accessible by the third-party network. Upon failure to verify the security details, the third-party network may transmit a failed verification response to the ATM.
