A system for recycling a mobile device. A system configured in accordance with one embodiment of the present technology includes an electrical connector and testing electronics. The electrical connector is configured to be electrically connected to a mobile device, and the testing electronics are configured to produce an electrical measurement by measuring an electrical attribute associated with a hardware component of the mobile device over the electrical connector. The system is further configured to valuate, identify, and/or authenticate the mobile device based at least in part on the electrical measurement.

The method comprises establishing wireless contact between the mobile payment device and the vending machine. Vending machine transaction details are established between the mobile payment device and the vending machine. These vending machine transaction details are sent to a vending platform associated with a payment infrastructure where the vending machine transaction is authorized. The vending platform then provides an authorization token for the vending machine transaction, allowing the vending machine to enable vending when the authorization token has been received.

A data center supporting a network system for vending products to customers and associated vending methods are provided. The network system includes a data center and a plurality of vending stores remotely located from the data center and connected to the data center through a network interface. The vending stores also include an automated dispensing mechanism for immediate dispensing of purchased products to the customers. The data center may include an enterprise resource planning module and the vending stores may contain user interfaces for collecting inventory and maintenance data during stocking and maintenance.
