Packaging detection for self checkout
The present disclosure provides improved packaging detection at self-checkout kiosks by identifying a given bag type for a bag selected at a self-checkout kiosk out of a plurality of bag types available from a bag dispenser associated with the self-checkout kiosk; identifying a weight range for the given bag type; in response to determining that the bag has been moved to a packing area of the self-checkout kiosk, comparing a first weight in the packing area from before the bag was moved to the packing area with a second weight in the packing area that includes the bag; and in response to a difference between the first weight and the second weight falling outside of the weight range, generating a loss prevention alert and pausing a transaction at the self-checkout kiosk.
Coin handling apparatus
A coin handling apparatus having: a first coin position; a second coin position; and a pipe for transporting coins from the first to the second coin position. The pipe is jointed and has a rigid, elongate element having a straight, elongate portion and a curved portion at a first end of the straight, elongate portion. The pipe further includes a rigid, curved element. The curved portion and the curved element are connected to define a continuous passageway through the curved element and the elongate element. The curved element, at least before mounting of the pipe in the coin handling apparatus, is rotatable in relation to the elongate element, such that an angle between a first opening of the curved element and a direction extending along the straight elongate portion is variable.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IN-STORE PURCHASE OF SECURITY-TAGGED ITEMS WHILE AVOIDING THE POINT OF SALE
A method and a system for enabling in-store purchasing of security-tagged merchandise, avoiding going through the point of sale of a retailer, are provided herein. The method may include the following steps: identifying, using a user-coupled device, a security tag attached to specific item to be purchased, wherein the security-tag is unique to the specific identified item; initiating a purchase request of said item via the user-coupled device, wherein the request includes a price of the item and identifiers of: the item, the security-tag identification, the retailer, and the user; attempting a transaction based on the purchase request, wherein the transaction is capable of being authorised by a third party; and indicating at a data repository associated with an in-store security gate sensitive to said security tag, that the security tag is no longer capable of initiating an alarm.
CONTEXTUALLY AWARE CUSTOMER ITEM ENTRY FOR AUTONOMOUS SHOPPING APPLICATIONS
A system and method for contextually aware customer item entry for autonomous shopping applications that includes an environmental sensing system distributed through a shopping environment that is configured to collect contextual data of customer activity in the environment; the environmental sensing system comprising at least a computer vision monitoring system, the computer vision monitoring system comprising a set of imaging devices distributed through the environment; a customer-managed item entry system that is movable through the environment by the customer and that is configured to collect item selection input; a virtual cart management module configured to manage a virtual cart with the item selection input and augmented at least in part by the contextual data, wherein the virtual cart is used in execution of an autonomous checkout process.
INTERACTIVE SHOPPING SYSTEM AND METHOD
An interactive shopping system, or smart cart. The system allows a user to select items in a store and complete a purchase without having to wait in lines or interact with store personnel. The system can have a container for holding products selected by at least one user, a user interface, a scanner in communication with the user interface, a processor in communication with the user interface, and a data storage comprising computer instructions executable by the processor. A user can select products, place them within the container, scan the products, and initiate a payment transaction to complete a purchase.
Payment terminal operation method and system therefor
A method of payment terminal operation, including: receiving a payment collection request for a payment from an application, generating a payment initiation request for the payment, sending the payment initiation request to a secure processing system, switching the secure processing system from operation in an unsecured mode to operation in a secured mode in response to receipt of the payment initiation request, facilitating payment information entry, and receiving a payment response notification, generated based on the payment information, at the main processor.
INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD FOR PRODUCT REGISTRATION AND CHECKOUT SYSTEMS
According to one embodiment, an information processing device for product registration and checkout systems includes, a communication interface and a memory unit storing one or more capture conditions. A processor of the device is configured to check whether a registration of a commodity in a sales transaction satisfies a capture condition stored in the memory unit and output an instruction for capturing an image of the commodity if the registration satisfies the capture condition. The processor acquires an image of the commodity that was captured based on the instruction, and outputs the acquired image to an external apparatus via the communication interface.
BAGGING DEVICE
According to one embodiment, a bagging device includes a commodity placing unit having an inclined surface and on which a commodity is placed, an openable and closable door provided at the lowermost portion of the inclined surface, determining the position of the commodity placed on the commodity placing unit in a closed state, and allowing the placed commodity to slide outward along the inclined surface in an open state, and a storage mechanism for dropping the slid commodity into a storage body set at a sliding movement destination of the commodity.
PHYSICAL STAND FOR MULTIPLE DEVICE ORIENTATIONS AND PERIPHERAL CARD READER
There are provided systems and methods for a physical stand for multiple device orientations and peripheral card reader. A device stand may include a dock that allows for placement and securing of a computing device within the device case, such as through a locking or connecting mechanism. The device dock further includes a peripheral component, such as a physical card reader, that allows for reading and entry of card data into the computing device for use with an electronic transaction processing application on the computing device. This allows the computing device to process transactions electronic with an online service provider. Further, the device stand includes a hinge or joint that allows for rotating and inverting of the computing device over a curved extension from a base of the device stand, which allows the computing device to be viewed in multiple directions and orientations.
WIRELESS TAG READING DEVICE
A wireless tag reading device has an accommodation region with a bottom surface, a first side surface, a second side surface, and a back surface. The accommodation region can accommodate therein a product with a wireless tag attached thereto. The product can be inserted and withdrawn from the accommodation region via an opening at the front and top of the accommodation region. A tag reading unit includes an antenna configured to emit radio waves toward the product in the accommodation region and then receive a response signal. The outside portions of the first side surface, the second side surface, and the back surface reflect radio waves. An inside portion of the back surface is a radio wave transmitting material. There is a gap left between the inside portion and the outside portion of the back surface portion.
