A mechanized store uses a mobile device to authenticate the user. Items removed from one or more displays of the mechanized store by the user are tracked and a list of items removed by the user is updated. The list of items removed is linked with an account of the user.

A group of inventions relates to artificial neural networks and their application for computer vision, in particular for the surveillance camera data processing systems and methods to automatically detect cashier fraud by verifying images using artificial neural networks. To detect cashier fraud, a POS system includes a barcode reader, memory, an image capture device, and a data processing module. The data processing module is configured to receive the data about the scanned product from the product database and to receive the video data from the image capture device. An automatic generation of product image set for artificial neural network learning contains stages when the barcode is read by placing an item against a barcode reader by a cashier, the barcode data signal then provides the data about the scanned product from product database, when the barcode data signal gives the image of the placed product from the image capture device, the received image of the placed item is saved with the data about the scanned product in the product database, then the abovementioned stages are repeated for each item placed against the barcode reader.

An article management system according to the present invention includes: an acquisition unit that acquires article identification information, which is read from a storage medium provided to an article that passed through an article arrival port and identifies the article, by using a wireless communication device provided at the article arrival port of a shop; and a registration unit that registers the article information in a storage device so that whether or not an arrival state of the article in the shop is an arrived state and whether or not a display state of the article in the shop is a not-displayed state for the article corresponding to the article identification information acquired by the acquisition unit can be extracted from the storage device storing article information in which the article identification information, the arrival state, and the display state are associated with each other.

A computer vision card reader and/or point of sale device is described. The device is configured to sense when a user inserts a card into a card reader and to determine when a user departs or is about to depart from the device without retrieving the card. The device may issue an audible or visible alert to the user, reminding the user to retrieve the card. The device may additionally send a notification to a mobile device associated with the user that reminds the user that he has left a card at the point of sale. In some embodiments, message sent to the user contains a code and, upon entry of the code, the point of sale or card reader device returns the card to the user.

A method and system for generating perceivable data representing a digital order is provided. A GUI receives a user selection of a particular button of a plurality of buttons. Each button of the plurality of buttons is for adding a respective menu or catalog item to a checkout cart. The particular button displays within its border at least one line of copy and at least one emoji, where the at least one emoji indicates the respective menu or catalog item. The at least one line of copy provides a text description of the respective menu or catalog item and is displayed in at least a minimum font point size and at least a minimum color contrast ratio relative to a background of the particular button. The GUI is then updated to indicate that the respective menu or catalog item for the particular button is added to the checkout cart.

Methods of detecting scan avoidance events when items are passed through a field of view (FOV) of a scanner are disclosed herein. An example method, during a decode session, receiving, at one or more processors of the symbology reader, an image of an object; during a timeout period, detecting, at the one or more processors, an indicia in the image of the object, the indicia having a decodable payload; during the timeout period, attempting to decode the indicia to identify the decodable payload, at the one or more processors; and after the timeout period expires, when at least one portion but less than all portions of the indicia is decodable, determining a potential scan avoidance attempt and generating a scan avoidance alarm signal.

The controller performs the processing based on an image captured at a first stage at which an object is put into a container and an image captured at a second stage at which the object is taken out of the container.

According to an embodiment, a printer includes a printer unit configured to print images on paper, a connector connectable to a detachable storage medium, and a controller. The controller is configured to acquire time information from the storage medium when the storage medium is connected to connector, and then store output information in the storage medium. The output information includes device information related to a print function of the printer unit and the acquired timing information in association with each other. The printer may lack an internal clock yet still output information associated with time information.

A checkout device in a point of sales (POS) system includes a table on which one or more merchandise items can be placed, a scale configured to measure a total weight of the merchandise items placed on the table, a scanner configured to read an image displayed on a terminal operated by a customer, and a processor. The processor is configured to, upon receipt of the image by the scanner, determine one or more merchandise items that have been registered by the customer using the terminal, determine a total weight of the registered merchandise items using a weight predetermined for each merchandise item, determine whether a difference between the determined total weight and the measured total weight exceeds a threshold, and upon determining that the difference exceeds the threshold, issue an abnormal command.
