TRANSITIONING OF DEVICES FROM THEIR PRIMARY FUNCTION TO PROVIDING SECURITY SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY

A point of sale (POS) security system includes a POS device including a non-transitory memory, one or more hardware processors, and one or more environment sensors. A plurality of POS instructions are located on the non-transitory memory in the POS device and executable by the one or more hardware processors in the POS device to provide a POS engine that is configured to receive and transmit payment information for conducting a payment transaction associated with a purchase. A plurality of security instructions are located on the non-transitory memory in the POS device and are executable by the one or more hardware processors in the POS device to provide a security engine that is configured to receive environment signals from the one or more environment sensors in the POS device and analyze those environment signals to determine a security breach.

A commodity container includes a main body having a container space, first and second antennas, and a processing circuit. The first antenna is configured to receive tag information from one or more wireless tags in a first range covering at a first region of the container space. The second antenna is configured to receive tag information from one or more wireless tags in a second range covering at a second region the container space. The second range is different from the first range. The processing circuit is configured to store tag information received by the first antenna in a data storage unit, determine whether or not tag information received by the second antenna corresponds to the stored tag information, and generate a control signal for generation of a user notification when the tag information received by the second antenna does not correspond to the stored tag information.

Point-of-sale terminal with integrated emergency services request capability

A point-of-sale terminal is used to process purchases by a customer during normal operation. However, during an emergency, the cashier activates an “emergency button” to indicate that the cashier needs police assistance. Once the cashier has indicated that an emergency condition occurs, the point-of-sale terminal attempts to utilize at least one communications adapter to notify the police of the emergency condition, either directly or via a monitoring service if the store subscribes to a monitoring service.

According to one or more embodiments, a settlement apparatus includes a processor. The processor detects a state of the settlement apparatus related to execution of settlement processing at the settlement apparatus using a plurality of settlement methods. The processor determines, based on the detected state of the settlement apparatus, whether there is a first settlement method among the plurality of settlement methods which cannot be executed at the settlement processing apparatus. The processor then notifies a customer of settlement method information indicating the first settlement method cannot be executed at the settlement processing or that another settlement method, other than the first settlement method, can be executed at the settlement apparatus instead of the first settlement method.

TRUSTED DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM AND METHOD
20230401945 · 2023-12-14 ·

Methods and apparatus for providing a comprehensive decision support system to include predictions, recommendations with consequences and optimal follow-up actions in specific situations are described. Data is obtained from multiple disparate data sources, depending on the information deemed necessary for the situation being modeled. The decision support system provides a prediction or predictions and a recommendation or a choice of recommendations based on the correlative analysis and/or other analyses. Also described are methods and apparatus for developing application specific decision support models. The decision support model development process may include identifying multiple disparate data sources for retrieval of related information, selection of classification variables to be retrieved from the data sources, assignment of weights to each classification variable, selecting and/or defining rules, and selecting and/or defining analysis functions.
