An interactive shopping system, or smart cart. The system allows a user to select items in a store and complete a purchase without having to wait in lines or interact with store personnel. The system can have a container for holding products selected by at least one user, a user interface, a scanner in communication with the user interface, a processor in communication with the user interface, and a data storage comprising computer instructions executable by the processor. A user can select products, place them within the container, scan the products, and initiate a payment transaction to complete a purchase.

The method of the present disclosure includes: obtaining an identification of an offline item in response to a case that a terminal of a user scans an identification code on the item to successfully obtain a possession or use right of the item; determining an identification of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag on the item according to the identification of the item; and modifying the RFID tag or a state corresponding to the RFID tag according to the identification of the RFID tag to cause the item to be determined as having passed a checkout verification when the RFID tag is read.

A method of auxiliary data capture control includes: storing, at a data capture device, (i) detection criteria corresponding to events having respective event identifiers; and (ii) a registration indicator associated with at least one of the event identifiers; controlling a primary data capture sensor to obtain primary captured data; in response to detecting, based on the primary captured data, that the detection criteria are satisfied for a detected one of the event identifiers, determining whether the registration indicator is associated with the detected event identifier; and when the registration indicator is associated with the detected event identifier, controlling an auxiliary data capture sensor to obtain auxiliary captured data.

A monitoring device for monitoring a customer operating a checkout terminal in a store, includes a network interface configured to communicate with the checkout terminal configured to perform checkout processing and an attendant terminal, a camera interface through which an image captured by a camera is received, the camera being installed so as to image the customer operating the checkout terminal, and a processor configured to, upon receipt of a first command indicating that the checkout processing has been started from the checkout terminal, begin monitoring of the image captured by the camera, upon detection of presence of the customer in the image, acquire feature information representing features of the customer from the image, and upon detection of absence of the customer in the image after the feature information is acquired, control the network interface to output to the attendant terminal an alert signal with the acquired feature information.

A method includes controlling a shared location. Item identifiers are read from a set of items (pertaining to one or more operators sharing the shared location) reaching a gate of the shared location. An information request message identifying the video data and a need for information about the video data is received. When the video data is determined suitable for sharing within a geographic network, an access control of the video data is set to allow a client device registered with the geographic network to display the video data. A display control value of the video data is set to direct display of a label with the video data to indicate the need for the information. A method apparatus are directed to identify items disposed on the bottom shelf of a shopping cart bottom of basket (BoB). Certain aspects envision a distance measurement sensor and computing system connected to the shopping cart. A first set of distance measurements of the bottom shelf when empty is obtained via the distance measurement sensor. Next, at a checkout stand, a second set of distance measurements of the shelf are taken, which can be used to compare with the first set of distance measurements to identify if there is an object on the BoB. An alert can be provided to a checkout attendant if there is an object on the BoB.
