Distracted driver detection device
A distracted driver detection device for use in a vehicle includes a processor, a video camera, and an accelerometer. The processor is configured to compute an eye open ratio (EOR) and a mouth open ratio (MOR). The processor is configured to provide an audio alert signal to an audio alert component and provide a visual alert signal to a visual alert component when the EOR is less than an EOR threshold for a prescribed EOR assessment time, when the MOR is greater than the MOR threshold for a prescribed MOR assessment time, or when the estimate of the acceleration is greater than an acceleration threshold. The EOR and MOR are calculated from facial landmarks that are generated by a Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) algorithm implemented by the processor.
Method and system for assisting a person in assessing an environment
The disclosure regards a method and a system for assisting a person in assessing an environment. The method includes selecting a set of one or more entities present in the environment, obtaining coordinates in the environment and extents of each entity of the set, estimating a location and shape of each entity of the set on the basis of the obtained coordinates and extends of the respective entity, determining an area of interest on the basis of the estimated location and shape of each entity of the set, evaluating the area of interest with respect to one or more variables of interest in order to evaluate a deviation between a current state of the area of interest and a target state, and communicating the deviation from the target state to the person using coherent stimuli for stimulating the person's body.

Piston assembly including leak detection in a dialysis machine
Dialysis systems and methods for operating dialysis machines (e.g., peritoneal dialysis machines) for conducting dialysis treatments are disclosed. The dialysis system may include a dialysis machine for transferring dialysate to a patient from a dialysate source. The dialysate may flow from the dialysate source through a cartridge or cassette (e.g., a disposable cartridge or cassette) positionable within the dialysis machine. The dialysis machine includes a piston for pumping fluid (e.g., dialysate) from the cassette to the patient. In various embodiments, during use, the piston is arranged and configured to contact, compress, etc. a membrane defining one or more fluid chambers in the cassette. In one embodiment, the piston includes a sensor for detecting a leak at the interface between the piston and the membrane. The sensor may be a capacitive sensor.
Safe-wash device
A safe-wash device to assist in washing hands at a handwashing station. The safe-wash device includes a housing, a sensor, a speaker, a display unit and a controller. The housing is mounted to a wall near or at the handwashing station. The sensor is disposed at least partially within the housing and is configured to detect movement of a user at the handwashing station. The speaker is disposed at least partially within the housing and configured to play music. The display unit is disposed at least partially within the housing and is configured to display a handwashing time period. The controller is in communication with the sensor, the speaker and the display unit. The controller is configured to activate the display unit and the speaker once the sensor detects movement of the user at the handwashing station.

METHODS AND DEVICE FOR TOUCHLESS PAYMENT PROCESSING
A transaction is maintained in a shopping cart and processed by a transaction manager in cooperation with a transaction application of a user device. The status device displays a code that when obtained by user device and provided to the transaction manager links the cart to the status device, Acquisition of the code is an indication that the customer associated with the cart is ready to checkout and pay for the items in the cart. The entire payment processing between the application, the transaction manager, and a payment service is monitored by transaction manager. Payment processing statuses for the payment as it processes in real time are sent from the transaction manager to the status device. Status device displays payment status messages on a display of that device and/or illuminates colored lights and/or plays specialized audible sounds indicative of the statuses as the payment processing continues in real time.
Unitless activity assessment and associated methods
A system assesses activity and displays a unitless activity value. A detector senses activity of a user. A processor reads sensed activity data from the detector. A display displays the unitless activity value. An enclosure houses the detector and the processor. The processor periodically reads the sensed activity data from the detector and processes the data to generate an activity number, the number being used to generate the unitless activity value based upon a maximum number and a display range.

Vehicle camera system
A vehicle camera system for integration into a vehicle may include a PCB or other controller. At least one camera may interface with the controller. The at least one camera may be integrated into the vehicle in at least one selected location or position on the vehicle. A motion sensor may interface with the controller. The motion sensor may be configured to detect motion of an object and/or a person approaching the vehicle and responsively activate the at least one camera to capture at least one image of an offending person and/or vehicle in the case of a collision or damage to the vehicle.
