Safety protection apparatus for personnel on oil drilling derricks
A safety apparatus for personnel on an oil drilling rig includes a cylindrical quick disconnect switch having a receptacle and a plunger. The receptacle has an open circuit pair of electrical wires. The plunger is configured to attach to a derrick man. The plunger and the receptacle are configured to mate when the plunger is inserted into the receptacle and to remain frictionally mated until pulled apart. The mating results in closing the circuit between the pair of electrical wires.
Somatosensory type notification alerts
A computing device is described that can receive contextual information related to a user associated with the computing device. The contextual information may relate to at least one of a physiological condition of the user at a current time or a type of activity associated with the user at the current time. The computing device can select, based at least in part on the contextual information, a type of alert to output as an indication of notification data. The type of alert may include at least one of an electric stimulus type alert, a shape-memory alloy type alert, and a vibration type alert. Responsive to selecting the type of alert, the computing device can output an alert based on the notification data, the alert being of the selected type of alert.
Electronic medication compliance monitoring system and associated methods
A system and method for monitoring a patient's compliance with a medication regimen includes an electronic tag having an antenna and a receiver/transmitter positioned with a medication capsule, and a reader positioned externally for detecting the presence and location of the tag in the patient.
Devices, systems, and methods for promoting hygiene compliance
Devices, systems, and methods for facilitating hand hygiene compliance are provided including a device for dispensing hygiene maintenance material that also monitors a detection zone to determine if an individual is present. A hygiene facilitation system is also provided comprising a retrofittable hygiene facilitation device that can be mounted on, or collocated with, conventional hygiene devices. The devices, systems, and methods hereof provide alerts and, optionally, tracking of use of the dispensing device and the relation of that use compared to a desired use profile.
Methods and systems for automatically identifying detection parameters for an implantable medical device
An initial set of parameters for operating one or more detection tools is automatically derived and subsequently adjusted so that each detection tool is more or less sensitive to signal characteristics in a region of interest. Detection tool(s) may be applied to physiological signals sensed from a patient (such as EEG signals) and may be configured to run in an implanted medical device that is programmable with the parameters to look for rhythmic activity, spiking, and power changes in the sensed signals, etc. A detection tool may be selected and parameter values derived in a logical sequence and/or in pairs based on a graphical representation of an activity type which may be selected by a user, for example, by clicking and dragging on the graphic via a GUI. Displayed simulations allow a user to assess what will be detected with a derived parameter set and then to adjust the sensitivity of the set or start over as desired.
Systems and methods for displaying notifications issued on board aircrafts
A method of displaying a plurality of notifications issued on board an aircraft may include receiving the plurality of notifications from a plurality of applications operating on board the aircraft and displaying the plurality of notifications collectively on a single user interface. The single user interface may be configured to permit an aircraft crew member to select at least one notification from the plurality of notifications and display a description of the at least one notification selected by the aircraft crew member. The description may include at least one action to be performed by the aircraft crew member in response to the at least one notification.
Network-based remote pet monitoring device and method
A pet monitoring device is disclosed that's wearable by a pet for recording and communicating the pet's movements within an environment in which radio frequency identifier (RFID) tags have been strategically placed. The device includes: a transmitter configured to send a radio signal to an area surrounding a pet's location; a receiver configured to receive a reflected radio signal from an RFID tag within the area; a processor configured to identify the RFID tag of the reflected radio signal; and a database in which the processor stores times and locations of identified RFID tags in the environment such that the times and locations are indicative of behavior of the pet in the environment. The device can be used for behavioral analysis, tracking key indicators related to the well-being of the pet, such as when a pet eats and drinks water, and how the pet behaves during recovery from an injury.
Multi-verifier approach for attestation of nodes in a network
This disclosure relates generally to contract management, and more particularly to contract management in a data marketplace. In an embodiment, a system for contract management performs refactoring of a contract, during which the system extracts terms and conditions from the contract and generates a simplified view of the contract. The system further performs a requirement validation based on the contract, during which the system determines features of data entity matches requirements specified by a first party or not, based on domain specific ontologies. If the data entity features are not matching with the requirements, then the system fetches one or more relevant attributes from a list of ontologies, verifies whether the features of entity along with the selected feature(s) satisfy the requirements or not. The system accordingly generates an agreeable requirement document as output of the requirement validation.
Systems and methods for determining the presence of occupants left behind in a vehicle
Vehicle sensing systems and methods of sensing a potential presence of an occupant left behind in a vehicle are disclosed. A vehicle sensing system includes sensors to detect a ride height or camber positioning, a processing device, and storage medium including programming instructions that, when executed, cause the processing device to obtain a first string of data from the sensors before a driver has entered the vehicle and the vehicle has been turned on, obtain a second string of data from the sensors after the vehicle has moved a distance, the vehicle has been turned off, and the driver has departed from a vicinity of the vehicle, compare the first string of data to the second string of data to determine if a difference exists, and when the difference exists, transmit an alert to external devices, the alert indicating a potential occupant being left behind in the vehicle.
