20200320898 · 2020-10-08 ·

Methods and systems for providing reading assistance to a user are provided. One or more written words are transmitted for display to a user's computing device, for the user to read aloud. An audio segment is received from the user's computing device. The audio segment comprises the user's spoken (audible) words as the user read aloud the one or more written words. The audio segment is processed by utilizing speech recognition to determine if the user's spoken word or words match with the one or more written words.

The methods and systems can provide one or more of the following advantages: improve auditory processing speed; improve visual processing speed; bond auditory and visual functions; increase working memory capacity; improve attention; improve motivation; and improve eye movement control.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OUTPUTTING INFORMATION
20200286470 · 2020-09-10 ·

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method and apparatus for outputting information. The method includes: outputting a to-be-read audio in response to receiving a reading instruction from a user; acquiring an actually read audio obtained by reading the to-be-read audio by the user; performing speech recognition on the actually read audio to obtain a recognition result; calculating a similarity between the actually read audio and the to-be-read audio based on a character string corresponding to the recognition result and a character string corresponding to the to-be-read audio; determining, from a predetermined set of similarity intervals, a similarity interval to which the calculated similarity belongs; and outputting a reading evaluation corresponding to the determined similarity interval. The embodiment may help a reader to improve the learning efficiency and learning interest, thereby improving the rate of a user using a device.

Sequentially operated modules
10758832 · 2020-09-01 · ·

Method, modules and a system formed by connecting the modules for controlling payloads are disclosed. An activation signal is propagated in the system from a module to the modules connected to it. Upon receiving an activation signal, the module (after a pre-set or random delay) activates a payload associated with it, and transmits the activation signal (after another pre-set or random delay) to one or more modules connected to it. The system is initiated by a master module including a user activated switch producing the activation signal. The activation signal can be propagated in the system in one direction from the master to the last module, or carried bi-directionally allowing two way propagation, using a module which revert the direction of the activation signal propagation direction. A module may be individually powered by an internal power source such as a battery, or connected to external power source such as AC power. The system may use remote powering wherein few or all of the modules are powered from the same power source connected to the system in a single point. The power may be carried over dedicated wires or concurrently with the conductors carrying the activation signal. The payload may be a visual or an audible signaling device, and can be integrated within a module or external to it. The payload may be powered by a module or using a dedicated power source, and can involve randomness associated with its activation such as the delay, payload control or payload activation.

DELIVERING PERSONALIZED LEARNING MATERIAL

Methods and systems for delivering personalized learning material are disclosed. A method includes providing, by a computer device, current learning material and advance learning material to a plurality of students; monitoring, by the computer device, a reading performance and a complexity of the advance learning material for a student of the plurality of students; determining, by the computer device, a student comprehension score for the student based on the monitoring the reading performance and the complexity of the advance learning material; and providing, by the computer device, additional learning material to the student based on the student comprehension score being above a threshold.

READING ENGINE(S) FOR ADAPTIVE NARRATIVES

Systems and methods for providing a reading engine for enhanced and adaptive narratives are provided herein. In an example, a system may include instructions to receive, from a first client device, an indication to start a narrative and generate, by a reading engine, a first chapter of the narrative based on the first client device. The reading engine may generate the first chapter to include a first set of challenge words. The reading engine monitors a reading of the first chapter by the first client device and determines one or more low fluency words based on the reading by the first client device. The reading engine may also provide narrative options for continuing the narrative present in the first chapter. Responsive to receiving a selection of a first narrative option the reading engine may generate a second chapter of the narrative based on the first narrative option.

PHONICS EXPLORATION TOY

A phonics learning system, comprising a letter identification board and letter manipulatives that may be placed on the letter identification board by a child, and a computing device connected to the letter identification board that identifies the letters placed on the board, generates a phonetic pronunciation for the combination of letters, and identifies any words or misspelled words.
