Breath-sensitive digital interface
A breath-sensitive digital interface that enables use a person's breath or other fluid for purposes of navigating digital media, and method for using such an interface.
System and methods of camera-based fingertip tracking
Systems and methods for camera-based fingertip tracking are disclosed. One such method includes identifying at least one location of a fingertip in at least one of the video frames, and mapping the location to a user input based on the location of the fingertip relative to a virtual user input device.
Tactile control system
A tactile control system includes a control member configurable between a plurality of physical configurations and configured to receive manual input from a user. The tactile control system also includes a transducer coupled to the control member and configured to generate a signal based on the manual input from the user, and an actuator coupled to the transducer and the control member and configured to change the physical configuration of the control member based on the signal.
Triggering a session with a virtual companion
A user of a device may interact with a character presented by the device. A session between the user and the character may be started by a user, may be triggered by an event, or may be started in other ways. The user of the of the device may be associated with one or more trigger events. Information about the trigger events may be obtained and processed to determine when a trigger event has occurred. When a trigger event has occurred, a session may be started on the device with the character. A segment may be selected to be presented during the session, and an interaction corresponding to the segment may be presented by the character to the user. For example, the character may speak a phrase using a text-to-speech voice.
BUTTONS, BEADS, AND REMOVABLE CLIPS BEARING BRAILLE INDICIA FOR FABRIC
A clip bearing Braille indicia removably attachable to fabric comprises a body member having a face bearing Braille indicia and a clipping member configured to removably clip the body member to the fabric with the Braille indicia facing outwardly. A button bearing Braille indicia for attachment to fabric includes a body having a face bearing Braille indicia and attachment means for facilitating attachment of the body of the button to the fabric with the Braille indicia facing outwardly. A bead bearing Braille indicia for attachment to an article using thread comprises a body having a face bearing Braille indicia and a passage, through the body beneath the face, for receiving the thread.
System and method for assisting language learning
Speech data from the operation of a speech recognition application is recorded over the course of one or more language learning sessions. The operation of the speech recognition application during each language learning sessions corresponds to a user speaking, and the speech recognition application generating text data. The text data may a recognition of what the user spoke. The speech data may comprise the text data, and confidence values that are an indication of an accuracy of the recognition. The speech data from each language learning session may be analyzed to determine an overall performance level of the user.
System and method for enhancing user accessibility in a virtual universe
A system and method to enhance user accessibility in a virtual universe and, in particular, to enhance user accessibility by providing information and/or actions to users participating in the virtual universe. The system comprises an assignment engine configured to assign an accessibility unit to an item within a virtual universe and a detection engine configured to detect a triggering event, which triggers the accessibility unit. The system also comprises an accessibility action engine configured to provide at least one of information and an action to a user when the accessibility unit is triggered.

User interfaces for converting geospatial data into audio outputs
Geospatial data can be converted into audio outputs. For example, a system can receive a dataset indicating geospatial locations of objects within a region. Based on the dataset, the system can generate a virtual map representing the region and including virtual points representing the objects. The virtual points can be spatially positioned at locations in the virtual map corresponding to the geospatial locations of the objects in the region. The system can receive a user input via a user input device for interacting with a particular virtual point among the virtual points in the virtual map. The system can determine one or more sound characteristics for a sound based on receiving the user input. The system can then transmit an audio signal to an audio device for causing the audio device to generate the sound having the one or more sound characteristics, which may assist with exploring the virtual map.
Multiple output control based on user input
A media control device is provided. The media control device includes a first output port and a second output port. The media control device receives a user input indicative of disability information of a user. Further, the media control device controls the first output port to output a first audio portion of media content. The media control device further retrieves a second audio portion which describes a first image portion of the media content based on the received user input. The first image portion is associated with the first audio portion. The media control device further controls the second output port to output the first audio portion and the second audio portion based on the received user input.
