A virtual or augmented reality display system can include a first sensor to provide measurements of a user's head pose over time and a processor to estimate the user's head pose based on at least one head pose measurement and based on at least one calculated predicted head pose. The processor can combine the head pose measurement and the predicted head pose using one or more gain factors. The one or more gain factors may vary based upon the user's head pose position within a physiological range of movement.

OPTICAL CORRECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CORRECTING NON-UNIFORMITY OF EMISSIVE DISPLAY DEVICES

What is disclosed are systems and methods of optical correction for pixel evaluation and correction for active matrix light emitting diode device (AMOLED) and other emissive displays. Optical correction for correcting for non-homogeneity of a display panel uses sparse display test patterns in conjunction with a defocused camera as the measurement device to avoid aliasing (moiré) of the pixels of the display in the captured images.

DISPLAY DEVICE AND DISPLAY METHOD

An image display device (1) according to the present disclosure includes an image display unit (2) that has a pixel structure of subpixels having a plurality of colors, in which the subpixels having different colors are aligned in a first direction, and the subpixels having the same color are aligned in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and causes an observer ob to observe an image through a plurality of opening portions (24) disposed for each pixel block BL including a plurality of pixels including the subpixels having the plurality of colors. A width of each of the plurality of opening portions (24) in the first direction is substantially equal to a width of a subpixel of the subpixels in the first direction, and the plurality of opening portions (24) are disposed to be shifted in the first direction.

IMAGE COMPENSATION FOR FOLDABLE DEVICES

Foldable displays may have portions folded into a folded configuration. Each folded portion may be observed by a user at a different viewing angle. As such, folding-artifacts may appear in the displayed image as a result of the different viewing angles. For example, a perceptible color difference and/or a perceptible brightness difference may appear between folded portions. Disclosed here are systems and methods to create compensated images that when displayed reduced the folding artifacts. The creation may include sensing a viewing angle for each portion and determining adjustments for pixels in each portion using a display model. The display model may be created by measuring color and brightness of pixels for various folded configurations, view-points and/or viewing angles.

DISPLAY APPARATUS AND DISPLAY METHOD

A display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present technology includes a display unit, a motion sensor, a region setting unit, and an information generating unit. The display unit includes a tubular display whose directional range in which an image is displayed is larger than 180 degrees. The motion sensor detects an observer who observes the display. The region setting unit sets a first region visible from the observer and a second region different from the first region as regions on the display on the basis of a detection result of the motion sensor. The information generating unit generates main information displayed in the first region and illumination information regarding illumination light presented in accordance with the second region.

Disclosed are an image display device and a method of controlling an image display device. The image display device includes a motion detection unit for detecting a motion of a user and provides a welcome feedback to the user in the form of a visual signal, an audio signal, or both according to whether the motion of the user is detected or not, thereby drawing attention of the user or switching a display state to reduce power consumption of the image display device. The image display device determines a motion exception event that is not regarded a user motion on the basis of an overall change or a local change in pixel value between image frames, thereby preventing the display panel from being activated by a non-human-related factor such as a sudden change in illuminance or a movement of a periodically operating object.
