Apparatus for providing access for a medical procedure
In some embodiments an apparatus for providing access for a medical procedure in a patient's body cavity includes a stem configured for insertion through an opening in a body cavity wall. The stem has a bore and a cap is disposed at a proximal end thereof and includes an entry port in communication with the bore which receives an instrument to be inserted into the body cavity. An inflatable annular seal is disposed on the stem proximate the cap and a conduit extends through the cap providing pressurized gas at a first outlet in fluid communication with the body cavity providing insufflation pressure. A second outlet of the conduit is in fluid communication the seal, which when disposed inside the body cavity proximate the wall and inflated by pressurized gas, bears on an inner surface of the wall urging the cap into contact with an outer surface of the wall while sealing the opening.
Loading unit locking collar with rotational actuated release
A loading unit includes a shell assembly and a locking collar. The shell assembly has an annular ring that defines a locking slot and a proximal opening. The proximal opening configured to receive a distal end portion of the surgical instrument. The locking collar is rotatably disposed about the annular ring. The locking collar has a body including a flexible tab that has an inwardly extending lock. The locking collar is moveable about the annular ring between a locked and unlocked configuration. In the locked configuration, the lock passes through the locking slot and into the proximal opening of the annular ring. In the unlocked configuration, the body of the locking collar is rotated about the annular ring from the locked configuration to move the lock from within the proximal opening.
Single and multilayer bands and related methods
Medical appliances including reinforcing bands and radiopaque marker bands are disclosed. In some embodiments, bands may comprise two or more material layers. A first layer may control the mechanical properties of a multilayered marking band, and a second layer may exhibit greater radiopacity than the first layer. Bands may also comprise a single layer.
Surgical treatment instrument
A surgical treatment instrument includes an elongated member an end effector that is bendable with respect to the elongated member, a bending operator operable to bend the end effector, a rotor rotatable about a rotation axis in response to operation of the bending operator, and a transmitter that transmits a driving force to bend the end effector. The bending operator, the rotor, and the transmitter are rotatable about the longitudinal axis together with the elongated member and the end effector.
Stopper and adaptor
A stopper according to one or more embodiments may include: a stopper body; and a rotation restriction portion provided at the stopper body and configured to restrict rotations of the drive transmission member. The stopper may be configured such that the rotation restriction portion restricts the rotations of the drive transmission member in a state where the stopper body is attached to the adaptor main body and the rotation restriction portion releases the restriction of the rotations of the drive transmission member in a state where the stopper body is detached from the adaptor main body.
Knotless suture fastener installation system
A knotless suture fastener installation system for securing medical devices such as cardiac implants. The knotless suture fasteners may be spring-biased so as to grip onto sutures passed therethrough. The system includes a fastener deployment tool with a proximal handle and a distal shaft to which a fastener cartridge attaches. A plurality of disposable cartridges are sequentially attached to the end of the deployment tool and used to secure the medical implant one fastener at a time. The deployment tool may also cut the sutures being fastened.
Cardiac injury device
A device, method, and use of a device for temporary management of a wound, such as a wound in a heart. The device has a shaft, a blood flow blocking membrane at the first end of the shaft for blocking blood flow through the wound, and an abutment member that is mounted to the shaft and is axially movable along the shaft towards and away from the blood flow blocking membrane for abutting the wound and holding the blood flow blocking membrane adjacent the wound. The blood flow blocking membrane is resiliently flexible and movable between at least a first collapsed state for inserting the blood flow blocking membrane through the wound, and a deployed state for blocking blood flow through the wound.
Systems and methods for therapeutic nasal neuromodulation
The invention generally relates to systems and methods for therapeutically modulating nerves in or associated with a nasal region of a patient for the treatment of a rhinosinusitis condition.
Instrument for endoscopic applications or the like
An instrument for endoscopic applications, including a tubular member having a handling end portion having a flexible portion and actuating devices located at the other end portion, and longitudinal elements for transferring the movement of the actuating devices to the handling end portion resulting in a change of orientation thereof, whereby the handling end portion includes at least two independent flexible portions, whereby the actuating end portion has a corresponding number of actuating devices, and whereby each actuating device is connected by its own set of longitudinal elements to a part of the handling end portion for effecting a change of orientation of one of the flexible portions.
Passive preload and capstan drive for surgical instruments
An instrument system comprising a flexible shaft having proximal and distal portions, a backend mechanism coupled to the proximal portion, and a plurality of tendons including first and second tendons. The backend mechanism comprises a plurality of capstans including first and second capstans. Each capstan includes a bore for engagement with a drive shaft, and a capstan coupling member adapted to engage a drive shaft coupling member such that rotation of the drive shaft causes rotation of the capstan, and adapted to disengage from the drive shaft coupling member so rotation of the drive shaft does not cause rotation of the capstan. The first tendon is configured to wrap around the first capstan and the second tendon is configured to wrap around the second capstan. The first and second tendons are coupled to a member disposed at the distal portion and are configured to move the member in opposing directions.
