A digital information recording apparatus includes a recording circuit for recording information of a retention period included in the digital information and indicating a period for permitting the digital information to be held in the recording medium, starting with a time at which the digital information is recorded on the recording medium; and information of a playback permission period included in the digital information and indicating a period for permitting the digital information to be played back starting with a time at which the information is reproduced initially following recording of the digital information on the recording medium, permitting temporary recording or copying for the information permitted for copy never or copy one generation.

A computer-implemented method, a computer program product, and a computer system for reordering a sequence of files based on compression rates in data transfer. A host determines predicted compression rates of first files that are to be saved onto a first tape, based on a relationship between compression rates and file attributes of second files that have been saved on a second tape. The host reorders a sequence of the first files stored in host cache storage and generates a new sequence of transferring the first files from the host cache storage to the tape drive hosting the first tape, based on the predicted compression rates of the first files. The host transfers the first files to the tape drive hosting the first tape and writes the first files to the first tape, according to the new sequence.

The inventions relate to the delivery, transfer of content, and return of uniquely customized physical digital media. Digital content is specifically encrypted for use on a target player associated with a specific customer account. After use, the media is returned to a receiving location where use information is read from the media. Attention is given to cost of delivery, security of content, user experience in selecting, choosing, paying for, viewing or utilizing the content, and usage information created as a result of the content being utilized, rented, purchased, loaded or deleted.

An image capture device for recording HDR (high dynamic range) image data obtained through image capture performs control so as to, when encoding HDR image data obtained by capturing an image with an image sensor, divide part of the HDR image data corresponding to a coding area to be encoded into a plurality of divided HDR image data, encode each of the plurality of divided HDR image data by using encoding means, and record the plurality of divided HDR image data that are encoded on a recording medium in a predetermined recording format.

In various embodiments, an iterative encoding application encodes a source video sequence. The encoding optimization application generates a set of shot encode points based on a set of encoding points and a first shot sequence included in the source video sequence. Each shot encode point is associated with a different encoded shot sequence. The encoding optimization application performs convex hull operation(s) across the set of shot encode points to generate a first convex hull associated with the first shot sequence. Subsequently, the encoding optimization application generates encoded video sequences based on the first convex hull and a second convex hull associated with a second shot sequence included in the source video sequence. The encoding optimization application computes a new encoding point based on the encoded video sequences and a target value for a first video metric and then generates an optimized encoded video sequence based on the new encoding point.

An image processing device includes a multimedia intellectual property (IP) block which processes image data including a first component and a second component; a memory; and a frame buffer compressor (FBC) which compresses the image data to generate compressed data and stores the compressed data in the memory. The frame buffer compressor includes a logic circuit which controls a compression sequence of the first component and the second component of the image data.

A digital jukebox allows for playback of a first offering and a second offering. The contents of each offering are individually licensed for public performance at a particular location where the jukebox is found. A playback method and a playback device for playing a system stream file are provided. The playback method uses the playback device having one or more memories and circuitry to play the system stream file. The playback method includes reading the system stream file and identifying whether the system stream file to be played back is a first system stream file having a first file format or a second system stream file having a second file format. If the system stream file to be played back is the first system stream file, the method further includes converting a file format of the system stream file that has been read out from the first file format into the second file format. The playback method further includes decoding the system stream file having the second file format.

In a system for video data capture and sharing client devices may include one or more video cameras and sensors to capture video data and to generate associated metadata. A cloud-based component may receive metadata from the client devices and requests for sharing video data captured by other client devices. Client devices with requested video data are identified by matching their provided metadata to the sharing request and by their response to an image search query for an object of interest specified in the request.
