Apparatus for use in the inspection of a top grid guide of boiling water reactor
An apparatus for performing an inspection on the beams of the top guide of a BWR includes a housing, an alignment assembly, and an inspection system. The housing is receivable atop the upper edges of a first pair of beams adjacent a receptacle of the top guide. The reception of the housing atop the upper edges of the first pair of beams is facilitated by the alignment assembly which includes a plurality of legs that are simultaneously moved between a retracted position wherein one or more of the legs is disengaged from the beams within the receptacle and an extended position wherein all of the legs are engaged with the beams of the top guide within the receptacle. The inspection system includes a pair of inspection elements that are translated above a second pair of beams that are adjacent the receptacle and that do not have the housing received thereon.
Methods and systems for crack detection
Systems and methods suitable for capable of autonomous crack detection in surfaces by analyzing video of the surface. The systems and methods include the capability to produce a video of the surfaces, the capability to analyze individual frames of the video to obtain surface texture feature data for areas of the surfaces depicted in each of the individual frames, the capability to analyze the surface texture feature data to detect surface texture features in the areas of the surfaces depicted in each of the individual frames, the capability of tracking the motion of the detected surface texture features in the individual frames to produce tracking data, and the capability of using the tracking data to filter non-crack surface texture features from the detected surface texture features in the individual frames.
MONITORING TARGET SELECTING DEVICE, MONITORING TARGET SELECTING METHOD, AND PROGRAM
A monitoring target selecting device configured to output a measurement parameter to an abnormality diagnosis device to diagnose an abnormal event of a plant based on a correlation value representing a mutual correlation between measurement parameters, and includes a classification unit to acquire a plurality of measurement parameters measured in the plant, classify a change behavior of measured value over a time for each of the plurality of measurement parameters in a first period, and classify a change behavior of a measured value over a time for each of the plurality of measurement parameters in each of the first period and a second period, and a selection unit to select the measurement parameter as a measurement parameter to be output to the abnormality diagnosis device on the basis of a result of comparing a behavior of the measurement parameters in the first period to the second period.
Diagnostic apparatus and diagnostic method for rotational angle sensor, and control apparatus for actuator
A diagnostic apparatus for a rotational angle sensor that outputs two correlated signals, corresponding to a rotational angle, determines whether or not a failure has occurred in the rotational angle sensor based on whether or not a numerical value obtained from the two correlated signals is within a predetermined range. Then, in a case in which the diagnostic apparatus for the rotational angle sensor determines that the failure has occurred in the rotational angle sensor, the diagnostic apparatus cancels the determination that the failure has occurred in the rotational angle sensor, when the numerical value is within the predetermined range and the rotational angle obtained from the two correlated signals is an angle that cannot be recognized to be 0, 90, 180, or 270.
Assembly for acting on the outer surface of a tube, and corresponding method
An assembly for acting on the outer surface of a tube, and corresponding method are provided. The assembly includes a carrier; at least one inspection or maintenance tool; the carrier includes at least one rolling body; an actuator. The carrier further includes a device for connecting the carrier to the tube, arranged so that the tube absorbs at least 50% of the weight of the carrier and the tool.
In-containment ex-core detector system
Apparatus for amplifying low level signals within a nuclear plant's containment building, derived from the ex-core nuclear instrumentation system. The system employs vacuum micro-electronic devices in place of conventional pre-amplifier assemblies to position the pre-amplifier assemblies closer to and within the vicinity of the ex-core detector outputs.
Defect detection in power distribution system
A defect detector can receive measured data characterizing an operational performance of a population of sets of parallel operating power sources of a power supplier for a power distribution system. The defect detector can employ statistical analysis to detect a potential defect in a subset of the parallel operating power sources of the power supplier based on the measured data. Each of the parallel operating power sources can be configured to provide a given output in response to a given input.
Integration of real-time measurements and atomistic modeling to license nuclear components
An improved testing and data gathering method is described herein with reference to testing a new fuel, as an exemplary component to be tested for licensure purposes. The method includes generally: generating models for the new system; making samples and getting them accepted for a reactor; and testing the samples in a test or commercial reactor until the exposure time is reached for the expected cycle length of the fuel at final use. The method is preferably done concurrent to submitting a license application for commercial use of the new component to the relevant government body to expedite license testing review.

Nuclear instrumentation system and method for locating the same
A nuclear instrumentation system includes a source range channel, an intermediate range channel, and a power range channel. Each channel includes one detector installed around the pressure vessel. The detectors of the power range channel and the intermediate range channel both include several fission chambers. The detectors of the intermediate range channel and power range channel share several fission chambers. Since some detectors employ fission chambers, the Gamma radiation resistance property, anti-noise property, and anti-electromagnetic interference property are improved. Sharing fission chambers reduces the number of detectors to be installed, thus relieving the installation workload and the positioning of a follow-up detector. Further, the system increases the number of some channels, which increases redundancy and improves system reliability.
