Electron-coupled transformer
An Electron-coupled transformer for generating a high voltage output pulse as an amplified version of an input pulse includes a cylindrical triode electron tube with a central anode along main axis and a grid and cathode radially spaced from the anode. The anode has a first end directly grounded and a second end insulated from a direction connection to ground. The cathode and the grid form a traveling wave electron gun that produces, when the grid is grounded through a phase matching network, a radially symmetrical collapsing traveling wave of ground potential in the Transverse Electromagnetic mode. The foregoing wave of ground potential causes a beam of electrons to flow from the cathode to the anode and causes a voltage output pulse to be produced on the second end of the anode, whose magnitude is an amplified version of the input pulse that is injected into the cathode.
Power conversion system
A power conversion system for converting thermal energy from a heat source to electricity is provided. The system includes a chamber including an inner shroud having an inlet and an outlet and defining an internal passageway between the inlet and the outlet through which a working fluid passes. The chamber also includes an outer shroud substantially surrounding the inner shroud. The chamber includes a source heat exchanger disposed in the internal passageway, the source heat exchanger being configured to receive a heat transmitting element associated with the heat source external to the chamber, and to transfer heat energy from the heat transmitting element to the working fluid. The system also includes a compressor disposed adjacent the inlet of the inner shroud and configured to transfer energy from the compressor to the working fluid, and an expander disposed adjacent the outlet of the inner shroud.
Power Conversion System for Nuclear Power Stations
A power conversion system for converting thermal energy from a heat source to electricity. The system includes a chamber including a shroud having an inlet and an outlet and defining an internal passageway through which an environmental working fluid passes. The chamber includes a source heat exchanger disposed in the internal passageway. The source heat exchanger is configured to receive a heat transmitting element associated with the heat source which is external to the chamber, and to transfer heat energy from the heat transmitting element to the working fluid. The system also includes a compressor adjacent the inlet, an expander adjacent the outlet, and a generator. The compressor can suction the working fluid into the system from an external environment. The expander can convert thermal energy of the heated working fluid into rotative energy. The generator can convert the rotative energy into electricity.
MUON-CATALYZED CONTROLLED FUSION ELECTRICITY-GENERATING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A turbine generator for producing electricity is described for use on planets and moons, or corresponding planetary or lunar orbits, where magnetic fields and atmospheres are sufficient low to obtain an adequate ambient flux of cosmic rays and muons for useful micro-fusion. A source of deuterium-containing micro-fusion particle fuel material is supplied via a flue to a columnar reaction volume, where it is dispersed and interacts with incoming cosmic rays and muons. Nuclear micro-fusion products (energetic alpha particles) drive a set of helium-wind turbines arranged around the reaction volume. Electrical generators coupled to the turbines generate electricity to supply nearby habitats and equipment.

Circuit for direct energy extraction from a charged-particle beam
Provided herein is a fusion energy extraction circuit (FEEC) device having a grid-tied bidirectional converter and a resonant converter. The resonant converter can include an inverse cyclotron converter with two or more or quadruple plates and a plurality of circuit switches. The bidirectional converter can include a three-phase grid-tied converter. The FEEC device is capable of decelerating plasma particle beams, thereby extracting the energy from the deceleration, converting the extracted energy to electric energy, and sending the electric energy to a power grid.

APPARATUS FOR MAGNETIC AND ELECTROSTATIC CONFINEMENT OF PLASMA
A system and method for containing plasma and forming a Field Reversed Configuration (FRC) magnetic topology are described in which plasma ions are contained magnetically in stable, non-adiabatic orbits in the FRC. Further, the electrons are contained electrostatically in a deep energy well, created by tuning an externally applied magnetic field. The simultaneous electrostatic confinement of electrons and magnetic confinement of ions avoids anomalous transport and facilitates classical containment of both electrons and ions. In this configuration, ions and electrons may have adequate density and temperature so that upon collisions ions are fused together by nuclear force, thus releasing fusion energy. Moreover, the fusion fuel plasmas that can be used with the present confinement system and method are not limited to neutronic fuels only, but also advantageously include advanced fuels.

VACUUM CHAMBER FOR PLASMA ELECTRIC GENERATION SYSTEM
A system and apparatus for controlled fusion in a field reversed configuration (FRC) magnetic topology and conversion of fusion product energies directly to electric power. Preferably, plasma ions are magnetically confined in the FRC while plasma electrons are electrostatically confined in a deep energy well, created by tuning an externally applied magnetic field. In this configuration, ions and electrons may have adequate density and temperature so that upon collisions ions are fused together by the nuclear force, thus forming fusion products that emerge in the form of an annular beam. Energy is removed from the fusion product ions as they spiral past electrodes of an inverse cyclotron converter. Advantageously, the fusion fuel plasmas that can be used with the present confinement and energy conversion system include advanced (aneutronic) fuels.
