TOPOLOGICAL INSULATOR TUBES APPLIED TO SIGNAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS
20190148038 · 2019-05-16 ·

Various methods and devices for touch screens using topological insulators are provided. One of the touch screen devices includes a touch sensor layer including a three-dimensional (3D) topological insulator that maintains an electric charge over opposing outer surfaces of the 3D topological insulator. The touch screen device also includes electrodes electrically connected the opposing outer surfaces of the 3D topological insulator. The touch screen device also includes a controller that determines a position at which an object touches the touch screen device based on a change in the electric charge over the opposing outer surfaces.

A structural component includes a composite laminate built up of a plurality of layers of carbon fibers, wherein the layers of carbon fibers are oriented in different directions, wherein the carbon fibers are surrounded by a conductive polymer resin, wherein the carbon fibers of at least one of the layers comprise an electrically insulating coating, and wherein at least one of the coated carbon fibers extend through its respective layer to form an electrical connection between ends of the layer spaced apart from one another.

Polymer bushing

A polymer bushing includes: an inner conductor; a hard insulating tube; a shielding metal fitting; a polymer covering that includes a body part that covers an outer periphery of the insulating tube, and a plurality of umbrella-shaped sheds that are formed at an outer periphery of the body part; and an electric-field stress-control layer that is composed of a zinc oxide layer or a high-permittivity layer, and is disposed along an interface between the insulating tube and the polymer covering. A rear end part of the electric-field stress-control layer is connected to the shielding metal fitting. The body part includes a first body part that has a uniform thickness, and a second body part that is located in a region around a front end part of the electric-field stress-control layer and has a thickness greater than the thickness of the first body part.

Insulator for overhead power lines with a protected leakage currents detector

An overhead power line insulator comprises a dielectric element (4) having an outside surface forming a skirt (5) with a head extended by a metal attachment fitting (7) for attaching the insulator, and a device for detecting surface leakage current flowing on the dielectric (4), the device comprising a conductive ring (8) that surrounds the fitting (7) and that is in contact with the outside surface of the dielectric (4). An electrically insulating protective element (10) is provided in the form of a collared bushing that surrounds the fitting (7), being interposed between the ring (8) and the fitting (7) and extending radially so as to overlie the ring (8) in order to protect it from environmental pollution.

HIGH-VOLTAGE DEVICE FEATURING TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT, AND METHOD FOR MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE OF A HIGH-VOLTAGE DEVICE
20190094081 · 2019-03-28 ·

A high-voltage device has an inner conductor and an insulating member that surrounds the inner conductor along the longitudinal direction thereof. In order to increase the reliability of the high-voltage device, at least one optical waveguide rests against the inner conductor in at least some sections, extends out of the insulating member and can be connected to an evaluation unit for recording measured temperature values. Furthermore a method measures a temperature of the inner conductor of the high-voltage device.

Material Removal from Inner Surface to Preserve Perception of Outer Surface Aesthetics

A veneer for a wall-mounted keypad may include indicia that are laser cut therethrough and that are representative of functions that may be performed by the keypad. The veneer may include a recess that extends into an inner surface of the veneer, proximate to the indicia. The recess may be shaped such that a perceived aesthetic of an outer surface of the veneer is preserved during formation of the indicia. The recess may for example have an organic shape defined by a curved outer perimeter that does not define any corners.

INSULATED JOYSTICK ASSEMBLY
20190066884 · 2019-02-28 ·

A joystick assembly is disclosed. In embodiments, the joystick controls a boom and aids in insulating a user from potential electric shock. Handle utilized by the operator may be made of, or at least one surface coated or covered in, material highly-resistant to electric current. The highly-resistant material may also extend to other components such as, a connecting rod, and a mounting base. The highly-resistant components may separate the operator from electrically charged components. As well as separating the operator from potentially electrically charged components, the rod may be received at the base by force measuring sensors, or strain measuring sensors may be attached to the rod. This allows the handle and rod to be stationary and, in embodiments, rigid, and only the applied force to be measured, thus decreasing the number of components needed in the assembly.
