Covers for distribution lines and insulators

A protective cover assembly for an electrical power distribution line conductor mounted on a horizontally oriented post insulator includes an insulator cover and a retaining pin. The insulator cover includes a cover body defining an insulator cavity configured to receive the insulator and a mounting bracket integral with the cover body. The mounting bracket defines a bracket slot having a bottom entry opening configured to receive the horizontally oriented insulator to couple the cover body to the insulator. The retaining pin is configured to close off the bottom entry opening to secure the insulator cover to the insulator. The cover body is formed of a flexible first material and the mounting bracket is formed of a second material that is more rigid than the first material.

Apparatus for electric stress grading with wildlife guard for electrical power distribution equipment

An apparatus for mounting at a conductive terminal of a high voltage insulator is provided. An apparatus includes an electrical insulator including an electrically insulating material without a conductive material. The electrical insulator includes a first surface, a second surface, a first edge that is between the first surface and the second surface, an intersection between the first edge and the first and second surfaces, and a second edge that is opposite the first edge and that is between the first surface and the second surface. The apparatus further includes a connected electrical conductor that is arranged on the first surface of the electrical insulator and is spaced apart from the second edge and an electrically conductive connector that is configured to electrically couple the connected electrical conductor to the conductive terminal of the high voltage insulator.

Apparatus for electric stress grading with wildlife guard for electrical power distribution equipment

An apparatus for mounting at a conductive terminal of a high voltage insulator is provided. An apparatus includes an electrical insulator including an electrically insulating material without a conductive material. The electrical insulator includes a first surface, a second surface, a first edge that is between the first surface and the second surface, an intersection between the first edge and the first and second surfaces, and a second edge that is opposite the first edge and that is between the first surface and the second surface. The apparatus further includes a connected electrical conductor that is arranged on the first surface of the electrical insulator and is spaced apart from the second edge and an electrically conductive connector that is configured to electrically couple the connected electrical conductor to the conductive terminal of the high voltage insulator.

Wiring module

An insulating protector attached to one side of a unit cell group includes: two bus bar housing portions, in each of which a plurality of bus bars for connecting adjacent electrode terminals are aligned and housed, and are respectively provided at positions near two lateral side edge portions of the insulating protector extending in a direction in which the bus bars are aligned; and two wire routing grooves that are provided on an inner side of each bus bar housing portion, and in which detection wires drawn from unit cells are routed so as to detect the state of the unit cells. A bus bar cover for covering the closer one of the bus bar housing portions and a wire cover for covering the wire routing groove on the inner side of the closer bus bar housing portion are provided on each lateral side edge portion of the insulating protector.

Wiring module

An insulating protector attached to one side of a unit cell group includes: two bus bar housing portions, in each of which a plurality of bus bars for connecting adjacent electrode terminals are aligned and housed, and are respectively provided at positions near two lateral side edge portions of the insulating protector extending in a direction in which the bus bars are aligned; and two wire routing grooves that are provided on an inner side of each bus bar housing portion, and in which detection wires drawn from unit cells are routed so as to detect the state of the unit cells. A bus bar cover for covering the closer one of the bus bar housing portions and a wire cover for covering the wire routing groove on the inner side of the closer bus bar housing portion are provided on each lateral side edge portion of the insulating protector.

A shield system for an electric power transmission tower includes a plurality of panels configured to be secured to a cross-arm structure of the tower in adjacent, end-to-end arrangement so as to overlie insulators supported by the tower and prevent excrement from birds nesting and/or congregating on the tower from contacting and accumulating on the insulators. Each panel has opposite ends and opposite lateral edges extending between the opposite ends. A plurality of spaced-apart apertures are formed in each panel adjacent each of the lateral edges and at least one of the ends, and each aperture is configured to receive a respective fastener therethrough for securing the panel to the cross-arm structure. Each panel has a shape that generally conforms to a shape of a portion of the cross-arm structure to which the panel is secured.

Overhead power line insulator including a leakage current measurement device having extended battery life

An overhead power line insulator is provided including a device for detecting and measuring a leakage current and for transmitting data, the device being arranged in such a manner as to perform: measuring a leakage current of an insulator during a first measurement period and during a second measurement period in a measurement circuit; comparing two values of the current that are obtained during respective ones of the two measurement periods; and stopping the measurement circuit for a certain sleep period of time if the second value of the current is less than or equal to the first value of the current, and then starting the measurement circuit again after the certain sleep period of time.
