PUMP ASSEMBLY
A pump assembly for a dental cleaning appliance includes a positive displacement pump including a fluid chamber and a fluid displacement member which is moveable in a linear direction relative to the fluid chamber, and a drive for actuating the pump to draw fluid into the fluid chamber through a fluid inlet. An energy storage device converts kinetic energy generated during actuation of the pump by the drive into potential energy, and stores the potential energy. A cam is connected to the drive for rotation relative to the fluid displacement member. The cam has a ramp extending about the fluid displacement member which is engaged by a cam follower connected to the fluid displacement member. As the cam moves relative to the fluid displacement member, the cam follower moves along the ramp to actuate the pump to draw fluid into the fluid chamber, and beyond the end of the ramp to enable the energy storage device to use the stored potential energy to actuate the pump to urge fluid from the fluid chamber.
DENTAL SCALER
Described herein are an ultrasonic dental scaler and laser systems. The dental scaler system includes a handpiece and a control unit. The handpiece has a tip, and a water irrigator for providing water to the tip, the handpiece being constructed and arranged to vibrate the tip. In one embodiment the base unit has a dial to control the water flow from the water irrigator to the tip. Also disclosed is a dental laser system which can operate both in a wired and wireless configuration and a root beer concentrate infused dental floss.
Information and data logging system for use in a dental environment
Disclosed is an information and data logging system for use in a dental environment. The dental environment comprising a dental unit including a number of individual selectable dental instruments and at least one instrument control unit for controlling the operation of a selected dental instrument. The information and data logging system comprises: a processing unit; and one or more displays for displaying information related to a dental treatment and one or more input units, both the one or more displays and the one or more input units being operatively connectable to said processing unit. The processing unit is configured to enable a user to select using the one or more input units a selected alternative sequence of steps of one or more alternative sequences of steps.
Pre-initiated tips for handheld laser surgical devices and methods related to the same
Pre-initiated tips for handheld laser surgical devices and methods related to the same are disclosed herein. Some embodiments include a handpiece device including a tubular body; and an insert that fits within the tubular body, the insert having a terminal end that comprises a receiver. A disposable tip couples with the terminal end of the receiver, and the disposable tip has a fiber optic conduit extending from a sheath tip. In some instances the fiber tip is pre-initiated with a pigment.
Shelf for dental delivery system
A shelf for a dental delivery system comprises a shelf member and device mounting locations on the shelf member. The shelf member is shaped to fit within a dental delivery system housing. The shelf member is movable between at least a closed position and an open position. The device mounting locations define locations devices can be coupled. According to another implementation, a dental delivery system comprising a housing defining an interior, at least one connection extending from the housing to a dental handpiece holding area, a removable cover and a shelf member movable between at least open and closed positions is described.
MICRO-PULSED LIQUID SPRAY FOR COOLING
An apparatus for cooling tissues which are treated with an energy-based device, such as a laser, is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a spray nozzle which generates an atomized liquid spray for the treatment area, wherein the atomized liquid spray is based on a mixture of liquid and gas. Further, the spray nozzle comprises at least one liquid outlet which ejects a liquid, and at least one gas outlet which ejects a gas stream. Besides, the apparatus for cooling comprises at least one delivery means for delivering pressurized gas to the spray nozzle; and a pumping means for the liquid, wherein the pumping means is configured to operate in pulses.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR TREATING PERIIMPLANTITIS USING UVC
The disclosure is directed to systems and methods for treatment of periimplantitis using ultraviolet light. In some embodiments, the ultraviolet light is ultraviolet c light with a wavelength between 100 and 280 nanometers. In some embodiments, the ultraviolet c light makes the surface of the implant hydrophilic and more receptive to cell protein attachment. In some embodiments, an apparatus for treating periimplantitis using ultraviolet light includes a handpiece with a flexible neck and a rotatable tip at the end of the flexible neck. In some embodiments, the handpiece includes a contra angle dental handpiece or a straight dental handpiece which can couple to and direct ultraviolet light from either an end firing tip or a side firing tip. In some embodiments, the handpiece is sized to enable UVC light to be directed to an exposed area of an implant facing toward one or more posterior portions of the oral cavity.
ROOT CANAL THERAPY DEVICE WITH MECHANICAL VIBRATION MODE AND ROTATION DRIVE MODE
A root canal therapy device with a mechanical vibration mode and a rotation drive mode includes a head, a handle, a first flexible drive shaft and a second flexible drive shaft. The head includes an outer main part, a mandrel part for mounting a root canal file, a first drive input shaft part and a second drive input shaft part. The mandrel part is mounted in the outer main part. A first drive motor and a second drive motor are disposed on the handle. The invention has the following beneficial effects: the root canal file can rotate and vibrate during root canal preparation, so that the wall of a root canal is efficiently cut by the file; and the file can also vibrate, so that cutting resistance and cutting temperature are effectively reduced, a smear layer is avoided, and the quality and efficiency of root canal preparation are improved.
INSERT ASSEMBLY WITH RADIOFREQUENCY IDENTIFIER FOR MEDICAL DEVICE
An insert assembly, insertable in a handpiece of a medical device, has an insert having an insert metal tang, a ferromagnetic layer in contact with the insert metal tang, a dielectric layer in contact with the ferromagnetic layer, an insert antenna in contact with the dielectric layer, having an insert antenna metal element and configured to receive and transmit electromagnetic fields, and an identification chip operatively connected to the insert antenna and configured to transmit information about the insert assembly. The ferromagnetic layer reduces or cancels attenuation and/or distortion phenomena of an electromagnetic field caused by parasitic effects due to interaction of a transmitted or received electromagnetic field with metal parts of the insert metal tang, liquids present in the insert, and the insert antenna metal element. The ferromagnetic layer dielectric layer and insert antenna form a transceiver device putting the identification chip in communication with a handpiece antenna.
APPARATUSES FOR SIMULATING DENTAL PROCEDURES AND METHODS
A dental procedure simulator includes a support structure and a linkage suspended from the support structure. The linkage is controlled by a computer that is configured to simulate a dental procedure or treatment.
