Dental and medical treatments and procedures

A method treating a root canal in a tooth by introducing into the pulp chamber of a tooth and pulsing a laser light into the fluid reservoir so as to disintegrate pulp within the root canal without generation of any significant heat in said liquid fluid so as to avoid elevating the temperature of any of the dentin, tooth, or other adjacent tissue more than about 5° C.

A method of treating diseased tissue while healing the wound using a diode laser which generates a beam of light having a wavelength in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum (400 nm-700 nm) at a laser power of 0.001 to 1.2 watts, used with intermittent stops to control tissue temperature and biostimulate epithelial regeneration when used with or without substrates. A method of treating diseased tissue using a laser light in the green wavelength range (520-570 nm) at a laser power of 0.001 W to 5 W. A method of treating diseased tissue using a laser light in the IR wavelength range (700-1400 nm) at a laser power of 0.001 W to 5 W.

System for endodontic treatment

Provided is a system for endodontic treatment of a root canal. The system includes a handpiece containing a rotary motor adapted to rotate an endodontic file secured by the handpiece. A control unit executes a regime of motion of the motor to produce a regime of file motion in which episodes of oscillation of the file are separated by a rotation of the file. When the arc of a rotation is less than the arc of the oscillation that preceded the rotation, the arcs of the episodes of oscillation overlap and the formation of ridges in the root canal is avoided.

ORAL IRRIGATOR

The present disclosure relates to an oral irrigator including: a storage unit configured to store water; a pumping unit configured to pump water of the storage unit; a nozzle unit configured to inject the water pressurized by the pumping unit into an oral cavity; and a controller configured to control of the pumping unit, wherein the controller is configured to store a pattern in which an initial stage of gradually increasing load of the pumping unit, a preliminary cleaning stage of maintaining an injection pressure at a first pressure , a full-scale cleaning stage of maintaining the injection pressure higher than the first pressure and a final cleaning stage of maintaining the injection pressure at a third pressure lower than the second pressure and the load of the pumping unit is automatically controlled based on the pattern according to a one-time input of an operation signal.

Apparatus for dental treatment

A lightweight, small footprint, composite extraction pen, for the delivery of dental filling composite from commercially available composite filled carpules. An electric linear actuator is housed in a slender, pen-like housing configured to accept, constrain and allow the rotational positioning of commercially available composite filled carpules. The carpules are contained within an adaptor that connects to the body of the pen. The linear actuator extends and retracts a piston through a bore in the carpule so as to exert pressure on the composite contained therein. The pen provides precise composite delivery while maintaining a highly visible dental environment.

Multi-directional handpiece

A multi-directional handpiece that includes a motor drive extending along and configured for rotation about a body axis, the motor drive having: a motor gearing at a proximal end of the motor drive; and a file gearing in engagement with the motor gearing for transferring the rotational and axial movement to a workpiece; and a housing for the workpiece; and wherein through rotation of the motor drive, the workpiece moves in an axial oscillating motion while being rotated.

ROOT CANAL DEBRIDEMENT EFFECTIVENESS DEVICE AND METHOD

A method for continuously evaluating the effectiveness of debridement of a root canal of a tooth, the tooth having an open access cavity and an apex end, includes delivering a fluid to the open access cavity of the tooth, evacuating the fluid near the apex end of the tooth such that the fluid flushes most of the root canal before being evacuated, and continuously evaluating the evacuated fluid for at least one of a presence of debris, a concentration level of the debris, or a type of the debris. An apparatus for use in debriding a root canal of a tooth includes a microcannula or a macrocannula configured to evacuate a fluid in the root canal, and a sensing mechanism fluidically coupled to the microcannula or the macrocannula, the sensing mechanism configured to continuously sense debris in the evacuated fluid in real time.
