The light emitter includes a light emitting unit configured to emit a light beam, and a power supply circuit configured to receive supply of electric power through a first power supply line leading to an outside of the light emitter and to supply required electric power to the light emitting unit. The light receiver includes: a first switching element, the first switching element serving to output a first output signal; a second switching element serving to output a second output signal; and a detection circuit. A third power supply line is provided such that one end of the third power supply line is electrically connected to the first power supply line inside the light emitter, and the other end is electrically connected to the second power supply line outside the light receiver.
Systems and methods for lightning protection in power distribution modules
A power distribution system includes a solid state power controller (SSPC). The SSPC includes a microcontroller having at least one voltage sense input. The microcontroller is configured to selectively allow a current through the SSPC in response to a common mode voltage to ground and/or a SSPC differential voltage meeting or exceeding a respective pre-determined threshold. A method of operating a SSPC includes determining whether at least one of a common mode voltage to ground or a SSPC differential voltage meet or exceed a respective pre-determined threshold. The method includes selectively allowing a current through the SSPC in response to at least one of the common mode voltage to ground or the SSPC differential voltage meeting or exceeding the respective pre-determined threshold.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE WITH AUTOMATIC MODE SWITCHING
An automatic hold switch is disclosed. The automatic hold switch provides a means for automatically switching a hold feature on and off. When the hold feature is on, one or more input devices of a portable electronic device are disabled or prevented from providing input signals. When the hold feature is off, one or more input devices of a portable electronic device are enabled or allowed to provide input signals. Because the user no longer has to manually control the hold feature, the number of actions that need to be taken by the user is reduced. In one example, the automatic hold switch is embodied with light sensors that detect when the device is in a dark environment and when the device is in a light environment. A dark environment indicates to the portable electronic device that the user wishes not to input and therefore the hold feature is turned on. A lighted environment indicates to the portable electronic device that the user wishes to input and therefore the hold feature is turned off.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN OUTPUT POWER SUPPLIED BY A PLURALITY OF CONVENTIONAL SOLAR CELLS
A solar cell management system for increasing the efficiency and power output of a solar cell and methods for making and using the same. The management system provides an electric field across an individual solar cell, an array of solar cells configured as a panel, or a group of solar panels. The imposed electric field exerts a force on both the electrons and holes created by light incident on the solar cell and accelerates the electron-hole pairs towards the electrodes of the solar cell. Compared to conventional solar cells, these accelerated electron-hole pairs travel a shorter distance from creation (by incident optical radiation) and spend less time within the solar cell material, therefore the electron-hole pairs have a lower likelihood of recombining within the cells' semiconductor's material. This reduction in the electron-hole recombination rate results in an overall increase in the solar cells' efficiency and greater power output.
TORQUE LIMITING DEVICE IN A CONNECTION BETWEEN A GEARBOX AND A STATIONARY STRUCTURE IN A GAS TURBINE ENGINE AND A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
The invention relates to a torque limiting device in a torque bearing connecting structure between a gearbox and a stationary structure in a gas turbine engine, wherein the torque limiting device comprises a mechanical fuse in the connection structure comprising an at least partially circumferential weakening of the material.
