A passive radiation-filtering element is provided, which extends proximate the first antenna beam(s). The passive radiation-filtering element includes at least one of a low-pass LC circuit, a band-pass LC circuit, and a high-pass LC circuit therein, which is configured to provide a lower frequency-dependent impedance to radiation within the first frequency band relative to radiation at frequencies outside the first frequency band. The passive radiation-filtering element may be configured as a multi-segment fence having capacitive and inductive elements therein, which are electrically coupled in series.

POWER WAVE TRANSMISSION TECHNIQUES TO FOCUS WIRELESSLY DELIVERED POWER AT A RECEIVING DEVICE

An example method performed by a wireless-power-transmitting device that includes an antenna array is provided. The method includes radiating electromagnetic waves that form a maximum power level at a first distance away from the antenna array. Moreover, a power level of the radiated electromagnetic waves decreases, relative to the maximum power level, by at least a predefined amount at a predefined radial distance away from the maximum power level. In some embodiments, the method also includes detecting a location of a wireless-power-receiving device, whereby the location of the wireless-power-receiving device is further from the antenna array than a location of the maximum power level.

A multi-beam phased array antenna system includes a beamformer responsive to control signals to convert between a plurality of subarray signals and a plurality of beam signals. The system also includes a plurality of subarrays to communicate a plurality of beams corresponding to the plurality of beam signals. Each subarray includes a plurality of radiating elements. Each subarray also includes subarray beamforming circuitry responsive to respective beam weights to adjust RF signals communicated with the radiating elements, and convert between the adjusted RF signals and one respective subarray signal. The system further includes a controller that determines two or more beams, wherein the two or more beams are the same communication type. The beamformer assigns disjoint subsets of subarrays to each of the determined two or more beams. The controller also provides the beam weights for each of the plurality of subarrays and provides the control signals to the beamformer.

Polarization-independent spatial power divider for a two-port millimeter-wave antenna

A two-port antenna system is proposed that uses a polarization-independent spatial power divider to align the beams from two orthogonally oriented dual-polarized feeds. This antenna system is compatible with fully polarimetric radar and provides high port isolation. It simultaneously provides a common aperture for transmit and receive to minimize radar parallax. The spatial power divider is designed using a combination of all-dielectric metamaterial techniques and the concept of miniaturized-element frequency selective surfaces, and is fabricated on a silicon wafer using standard microfabrication technology.
