NETWORK ACCESS MANAGEMENT
Within a satellite communications system, a base station communicates with standard compliant user equipment (UE) via a satellite having a field of view. The base station has a processor that instructs the satellite to generate a wide beam signal covering a plurality of cells in the field of view, and detects an access request from a user equipment within the plurality of cells over the wide beam signal. The base station, comprising a processing device such as an eNodeB, then generates one or more network broadcast/access signals that is uplink to a satellite and broadcasted via one or more nominal beams generated by the satellite, covering all the inactive cells, one of the plurality of cells having the access request.

Ultra-wideband circular beamformer
An ultra-wideband (UWB) beam forming system is disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the UWB beam forming system includes a plurality of radiating elements forming a circular, cylindrical, conical, spherical, or multi-faceted array and a beamformer coupled to the radiating elements. The beamformer includes one or more transformable reconfigurable integrated units (TRIUNs) configured to independently control individual radiating elements or groups of radiating elements of the plurality of radiating elements.
Dual-band cross-polarized 5G mm-wave phased array antenna
A dual-band cross-polarized antenna includes first and second metal layers defining respective first and second driven patches configured to radiate at different frequencies, first and second feed pins connecting a first feed line to the first driven patch at respective first and second feed points thereof associated with orthogonal polarizations, and third and fourth feed pins connecting a second feed line to the second driven patch at first and second feed points thereof associated with orthogonal polarizations. The third feed pin extends through a first hole in the first driven patch to capacitively couple the third feed pin to the first driven patch. The fourth feed pin extends through a second hole in the first driven patch to capacitively couple the fourth feed pin to the first driven patch. Two or more antenna elements are arranged as a phased array antenna and packaged as an antenna module.

Antenna lattice with unequal spacing for single-panel full-duplex satellite user terminals
A full-duplex User Terminal Panel (UTP) including one or more User Terminal Modules (UTM) having a plurality of Tx antenna elements. Each of the Tx antenna elements spaced apart from one another by a distance dTx. The full-duplex UTP further includes a plurality of Rx antenna elements. Each of the Rx antenna elements are spaced apart from one another by a distance dRx. Furthermore, the Tx antenna elements may be spaced according to a Tx lattice dTx, such that the Tx lattice dTx spacing arrangement provides grating lobe-free scanning in an elevation plane at a Tx frequency range. The Rx antenna elements are spaced according to an Rx lattice dRx, such that the Rx lattice dRx spacing arrangement provides grating lobe-free scanning in an elevation plane at a Rx frequency range.
TECHNIQUE FOR CONTROLLING AN AIRBORNE ANTENNA SYSTEM
A technique for controlling an airborne antenna system (304) for a radio telecommunications network mounted on an aircraft (300) is described. As to a method aspect performed by the aircraft (300), a physical antenna orientation of the antenna system (304) relative to geographic cardinal directions is determined. The physical antenna orientation is stabilized in a predefined direction relative to the geographic cardinal directions by controlling a rotational actuator (514) of the antenna system (304).
