SOCKET MONITORING

This applications relates to methods and apparatus for monitoring a socket (101), to detect a connection status of a mating plug (102), e.g. for monitoring an audio jack socket for connection of an audio jack plug. A monitor (115, 305) is configured to monitor a voltage (V.sub.M) at a monitoring node (114), which is coupled to a jack detect contact (112) of the socket and a voltage pull-up element (113). The voltage (V.sub.M) at the monitoring node (114) is monitored against a threshold (Vthv) and a threshold module (302) is configured to vary the threshold depending on an indication of signal activity (S.sub.ACT) of a signal path for a first socket contact (103) which will be electrically connected to the jack detect contact when a plug when inserted in the socket.

CONNECTOR

A connector is connected to a mating connector and includes at least one terminal, a housing and a retainer (90). The housing includes at least one fitting (72) and an exposed portion (80). The fitting (72) is fit into the mating connector and formed with a terminal accommodating portion for accommodating the terminal. The exposed portion (80) is exposed from the mating connector. The retainer (90) includes a locked portion and a locking protrusion (94). The locked portion is assembled with the exposed portion (80) and locked to a locking portion provided on the exposed portion (80), thereby fixing the retainer (90) to the housing. The locking protrusion (94) is assembled with the fitting (72) to project into the terminal accommodating portion and retains the terminal in the terminal accommodating portion.

Tamper resistant plug-able socket adapter
10790607 · 2020-09-29 · ·

The present disclosure is directed to tamper resistant outlets (TRO) and adapters that adapt non-TRO compliant electrical sockets to become TRO compliant sockets. Adapters consistent with the present disclosure may include one or more sets of prongs or plug bars that mate with electrical wall outlets or sockets, such that an adapter can be plugged into a wall socket directly. These adapters may cover a non-compliant socket with a structure that provides TRO compliant receptacles. Other surfaces on the TRO adapter may include one or more sets of covers that cover receptacles included in the TRO adapter when a plug is not installed into a respective set of receptacles. Adapters consistent with the present disclosure may adapt sockets that use either two or three prongs. Adapters consistent with the present disclosure may be attached and retained using screws or other protrusions.

Safety shield assembly for power receptacle and related power receptacle
10770823 · 2020-09-08 · ·

A safety shield assembly for a power receptacle and a power receptacle incorporating the same. The safety shield assembly includes a frame and a sliding block and a resilient member disposed in the frame. The frame has multiple openings corresponding to multiple socket holes of the power receptacle, a position limiting member configured to abut the sliding block, and a balancing support member. In its initial state, the resilient member urges the sliding block to a closed position to covers the openings. The sliding block has two inclined surfaces. When an inserted object pushes on only one of the two inclined surfaces, the position limiting member limits the sliding motion of the sliding block; when two inserted objects simultaneously push on both inclined surfaces, the sliding block is balanced on the balancing support member and is able to slides along the frame to expose the openings.

Terminal block for use in integrated drive generator

A terminal block for use in an integrated drive generator has a body having an outer support surface and extending to an inner surface. There are four connection channels for supporting electric connections for each of three phases of power and a neutral. There are fingers formed between adjacent ones of each of the four connection channels, with the fingers extending away from the support surface in a direction away from the inner surface. An integrated drive generator and a method are also disclosed.

Plug arrangement for producing a detachable multi-purpose connection

A plug arrangement for producing a detachable multi-purpose connection, the arrangement comprising: a housing body and a contact element that is connected to the housing body, wherein the contact element is oriented in a rotationally symmetrical manner in relation to a predetermined plugging direction and comprises at least one annular contact zone arranged along the predetermined plugging direction; and at least one code segment disposed on the contact element, said code segment forming an angular code that varies with a rotational position of the contact element.

Orthogonal electrical connector penetrator system for coiled tubing electrical service in a flow-through multi-bowled wellhead and method of installation and use

An electrical interconnect system which allows electrical service to be provided to an ESP suspended on coiled tubing without exiting the wellhead at the top of the well head structure, with three aligned plugs into which is inserted an exterior plug providing each leg of the electrical service to the ESP within the well.

Electrical connector holding apparatus and method for locking and protecting electrical connectors

An apparatus for locking electrical connectors together and for protecting such electrical connectors. A method of locking electrical connectors together.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector includes a plug that mates with a receptacle. In a medical application, the plug is connected to electrical leads that pass through a patient's skin to an implanted medical device in the patient's body, while the receptacle is connected to external medical equipment. The plug is small in diameter so the size of the opening in the patient's skin can be minimized. All electrical contacts in the plug are on internal portions. The receptacle includes spring-loaded contacts that contact the internal electrical contacts on the plug when the plug and receptacle are properly mated. When the plug is plugged into the receptacle, spring-loaded retention arms in the receptacle lock into place on the plug, retaining the plug in the receptacle.
