Sexed Sperm Bulk Separation Systems
20210230541 · 2021-07-29 · ·

A process to bulk sex-select sperm which can involve such steps as: obtaining a subject sperm sample such as a collection of cells (1); inducing a sex-based differential alteration process for sperm in the sperm sample; presenting associationally active elements near the sperm within at least some of the sperm sample perhaps such as a fluid combination (4); causing such elements to differentially associate with at least portions of the elements based upon a sperm sex-based differential alteration state; acting on the elements together with their associated sperm through a separation modality (5) to bulk separate the sperm according to their differential sex-based properties. One type of associationally active element is potentially magnetic particles or differentially associatable particles (3) which may even be magnetic particles with inherent zeta potential charges that may associationally act and perhaps bind to an opposite zeta potential or other charges that the sperm may differentially acquire or achieve. This may present a method for magnetic separation of X-bearing and Y-bearing sperm perhaps such as having different charged membranes and perhaps such as after sialic acid activation.

Method for mobilizing immobilized cells

Method for producing mobility in immobile cells in in vivo or in vitro fertilization. The method includes producing mobility in individual immobile cells that are connected to a microstructure. The microstructure is composed at least partially of magnetic materials and a non-reciprocal movement of the microstructure with the immobile cell is executed by a time-varying, three-dimensional external magnetic field.

Automatic system and method for delivering a substance to an animal

A system and method for automatically delivering a substance to an animal including a positioning system that positions each animal singularly, a sensor that detects the location of a predetermined targeted area on the animal and an image processor. The system further includes a delivery device having a plurality of delivery outlets for delivering a substance to the targeted area. The sensor, image processor and delivery device are in communication with a computer processor. The sensor activates the image processor which takes at least one image of the animal positioned singularly. The image is communicated to the computer processor and analyzed. The computer processor activates the delivery outlet proximate the predetermined target area on the animal which delivers an effective dosage of substance to the predetermined targeted area.

There is provided a system and method for following and conducting laboratory procedures for preventing errors and fatigue of the user. The system involves input means, such as a microscope, and a camera connected to the input means, while the camera creates images of the input means. A computer is connected to the camera, and it processes the images so that augmented reality glasses which are also connected to the computer, are capable of having those images projected thereon. The computer also has laboratory protocol files installed thereon, and it projects images of the protocols onto the glasses. The projected images do not interfere with a user's natural vision.

METHODS OF VENTRAL RECEPTACLE COMPRESSION TECHNIQUE FOR SCORING MATED STATUS IN INSECTS INCLUDING FRUIT FLIES
20210045363 · 2021-02-18 ·

A method for determining the mated status of female fruit flies, focusing on determining the presence of spermatozoa in a sample fly's ventral receptacle (VR). The ventral receptacle is the organ where eggs become fertilized. The VR is the first and last organ in a mated female fly to contain spermatozoa. The VR is thus the most accurate organ for determining whether a female fruit fly has recently mated. The method is a squash method. The fly's ventral receptacle is isolated, and then squeezed so as to cause spermatozoa stored in the ventral receptacle to be released into the lumen of the VR. This permits use of a microscope to determine the presence or absence of spermatozoa in the female fruit fly, and thus the mated status of the female fruit fly.

Bodily fluid collection system
10864067 · 2020-12-15 · ·

Bodily fluid collection systems are described where the system may be used for collecting and transferring sperm into a syringe. The syringe is configured to have a distal collection tip which is gently tapered or radiused to present a smooth and atraumatic surface and which is specifically configured and shaped to be inserted within and received by the collection receptacle. The distal collection tip has a shape which corresponds directly to a tapered reservoir defined at the bottom of the collection receptacle such that a distal opening defined through the tip is optimally positioned within the concentrated bodily fluid pooled within the reservoir for collection. Moreover, the gentle taper of the collection tip may present an atraumatic surface for inhibiting damage to the sperm contained within the ejaculate as the sperm is suctioned into the distal opening for insemination into the female.

METHOD AND COMPOSITION FOR SYNCHRONIZING TIME OF INSEMINATON

Methods and compositions for synchronizing the time of insemination in swine are described. More particularly, methods are described for synchronizing the time of insemination by administration of a composition comprising a hormone, wherein the swine is inseminated only one time after administration of the hormone, and wherein there is no heat detection.
