Methods of determining energy balance using breath carbon isotope ratios
Described herein are methods of determining energy balance in individuals such as exercising individuals, individuals consuming a .sup.13C-enriched test composition and individuals consuming a fixed diet with a known .sup.13C. The .sup.13C pre- and post-exercise, or pre- and post-consumption of the test beverage or fixed diet indicate whether the individual is in neutral or positive energy balance, or in energy deficit. The methods are particularly useful for individuals participating in weight management programs, and individuals under the care of health care professionals.
Physical therapy device for pets
A physical therapy device for pets contains: a current output unit, a comb body, and a conductive platform. The current output unit is electrically connected to a power to supply an output current and control a current value of the output current. The comb body includes a first terminal and a second terminal, a side of the first terminal has a first brushes which are made of a plurality of conductive materials. The first terminal is separately electrically connected to the current output unit, and the second terminal is held by a user. The conductive platform is electrically connected to the current output unit so that the current output unit outputs the current to the pets via the first brushes.

ANIMAL MODEL FOR GENERATING A STEREOTYPE OF FOCAL ONSET SEIZURES
It includes the steps of (1) preparing step; (2) anesthetizing step; (3) electrodes installing step; and (4) focal onset seizures inducing step. First, a live animal is anesthetized. The electrodes are installed on a working zone of its brain. A first chemical liquid is injected beneath the cerebral cortex of this animal. At two different times, a first electric stimulation and a second electric stimulation are activated by the controller respectively so as to generate a first and a second focal onset seizure accordingly. Thus, it can generate focal onset seizures. It is easy to change the electric stimulation position, numbers and type. In addition, the survival rate of a larger-sized animal after anesthesia is higher.
Apparatus, system, and method for preventing animal suffocation
A system for preventing animal suffocation because of a bag is disclosed. The system includes an attachment for the bag having a first panel and a second panel. A hinge element attaches the first panel with the second panel. The first panel is configured to attach to a first outward facing portion of the bag and the second panel and is configured to attach to a second outward facing portion of the bag. A one-way air flow valve is integral with at least one of the first panel and the second panel and is configured to allow air to flow from an outside environment into the bag only when an inward force acts on the valve and pulls air from outside the bag inward inside the bag.

Health monitoring cat litter
Technology is disclosed for a cat litter that can be used to diagnose feline medical conditions. A cat litter contains an additive, e.g., a chemical agent, such as a natural and/or synthetic agent, that changes in color when it comes in contact with cat urine or feces. Based on the color it can be determined whether the cat has a medical condition, such as particular illness. For example, if the litter turns yellow when it comes in contact with the urine, it can indicate that the cat is healthy. If the litter turns to a color other than yellow, e.g., green, it can indicate that the cat has some illness. The cat then be taken to a veterinary doctor for further diagnosis. The chemical agent aids in detection and diagnosis through interaction of materials that change colors to indicate reactions with specific chemicals, cells, molecules, DNA and/or materials. The technology can be implemented for medical diagnosis and detectionfor humans and/or animals.
Method of reducing stress and anxiety in equines
A method of reducing stress and anxiety in an equine comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a water-based cannabinoid formulation is provided, where the formulation contains no tetrahydrocannabinol. While many cannabinoids are suitable, the formulation may contain pure cannabidiol as the primary or only cannabinoid.
Veterinary Services Inquiry System
A method for providing animal related services or products includes receiving an audio request on a cloud connected device supporting voice detection and voice response and determining whether at least one of a veterinary consult service and an animal related product is required. A veterinary consult service can provide diagnosis of pet condition based at least in part on a sequence of voiced questions and voiced responses asked and received through the cloud connected device and the animal related product can be billed and delivered at least in part using the animal support system.
