Managing power to electrical systems
A data center includes rack computing systems, electrical power system, and a circuit control device. The rack computing systems may include a rack and computing devices coupled to the rack. The electrical power system supplies power to computing devices in the racks. Each electrical power system may include overcurrent protection devices that protect computing devices in the rack computing systems from overcurrent conditions. The circuit control device is coupled to the overcurrent protection devices. The circuit control device can trigger the circuit protection devices to shed loads on the electrical power system from computing devices in the rack computing systems.

Standby electric power cutoff apparatus for electronic product
A standby electric power cutoff apparatus for an electronic product is disclosed. A power supply/cutoff unit (20) of the present invention comprises: a power switch (SW) for manually turning an input of an AC power source of the electronic product on/off; a pair of photo-triacs (21, 22) which are disposed in parallel to each other between input terminals of the AC power source, and which receive power through the power switch (SW); a photo-coupler (23) which is disposed between the power switch (SW) and the input terminals on one side of the AC power source and comprises a light emitting diode (D3) and a transistor (Q1) for receiving a light emitting signal from the light emitting diode; and a relay means which comprises a relay (K1) connected to a control unit (60) having a microcomputer (u-COM), and which supplies or cuts off the AC supply power to a power supply unit (30) by controlling operations for connecting or disconnecting contact points of the relay according to a control state of the control unit (60). In addition, a standby electric power cutoff apparatus for an electronic product (100) which controls functions using a remote controller (300). A power supply/cutoff unit (400), according to the present invention, comprises: IR-receiving triacs (110) which receive IR signals from the remote controller, and which are turned on so as to transfer the AC supply power to a power supply unit (130) when the IR signals are received; and an IR-receiving unit (120) for receiving the IR signals and transferring the received IR signals as control signals to a control unit (160).
ENHANCED POWER MANAGEMENT
A computer includes a processor and memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive a message sent by a first electronic control unit of a deactivated vehicle via a vehicle network of the deactivated vehicle, the message including a power consumption level indicating a rate of power consumption currently used by the first electronic control unit, send a second message to a user device when the power consumption level of the first electronic control unit exceeds a threshold, the second message including a request to deactivate the first electronic control unit, and deactivate the first electronic control unit upon receiving, in response to the request, user input to deactivate the first electronic control unit.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EFFICIENT POWER DELIVERY IN POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM
In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a power supply operable to output power to a load along with at least one other power supply, a sensing component for identifying a load level, and a control component for switching the power supply from a full power mode to a power saving mode based on the identified load level. The power supply shares current with the other power supply at a lower current and generally the same voltage as the other power supply while in the power saving mode.
Utilization of distributed generator inverters as STATCOM
The invention provides a method and system for operating a solar farm inverter as a Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) device—a STATCOM—for voltage control. The solar farm inverter can provide voltage regulation, damping enhancement, stability improvement and other benefits provided by FACTS devices. In one embodiment, the solar farm operating as a STATCOM at night is employed to increase the connectivity of neighbouring wind farms that produce peak power at night due to high winds, but are unable to connect due to voltage regulation issues. The present invention can also operate during the day because there remains inverter capacity after real power export by the solar farm. Additional auxiliary controllers are incorporated in the solar farm inverter to enhance damping and stability, and provide other benefits provided by FACTS devices.

Power supply assembly
A power supply assembly including a load supply converter system and energy saving transfer route both connected electrically to a load connection. The energy saving transfer route bypasses the load supply converter system, and includes a bypass switch system having a first bypass switch and second bypass switch connected in series. A control system of the power supply assembly is adapted to provide a system diagnostic operation including providing a diagnostic state for the bypass switch system by controlling the first bypass switch into a non-conducting state, and controlling the second bypass switch into a conducting state, generating a diagnostic voltage in an output of the load supply converter system, and detecting a short circuit incident if an electric current flowing through the bypass switch system exceeds a predetermined short circuit threshold value.
