A method for manufacture of a gold-plated slipring contact, comprising steps of galvanic deposition of a copper layer on the electrically-conductive substrate; of a nickel and/or nickel phosphor layer on the copper layer; and of a gold layer on the nickel and/or nickel phosphor layer. While galvanically applying the copper layer on the substrate, the used galvanic bath explicitly does not include at least one of 3-carboxy-1-(phenylmethyl)pyridinium chloride sodium salt, cationic polymers with urea groups, 1-(3-sulfopropyl)pyridinium betaine, 1-(2-hydroxy-3-sulfopropyl)-pyridinium betaine, propargyl(3-sulfopropyl)ether sodium salt, sodium saccharin, sodium allylsulfonate, N,N-dimethyl-N-(3-cocoamidopropyl)-N-(2-hydroxy-3-sulfopropyl)ammonium betaine, polyamines, 1H-imidazole-polymer with (chloromethyl)oxiran, 3-carboxy-1-(phenylmethyl)pyridinium chloride sodium salt, 1-benzyl-3-sodium carboxy-pyridinium chloride, arsenic trioxide, potassium antimony tartrate, potassium tellurate, alkali arsenite, potassium tellerite, potassium seleno cyanate, alkali antimonyl tartrate, sodium selenite, thallium sulfate, and carbon disulfide, to create the outer surface of the contact that is at least an order of magnitude rougher than a surface of a conventionally-fabricated contact.

A brush holder apparatus has a stationary support member having two opposing grooves, a fork electrical connector, and a conductive bar configured to pass through a portion of a main body of the stationary support member. The conductive bar provides electrical conductivity with a collector mount and the fork electrical connector. A brush holder is configured to be releasably affixed to the stationary support member, and has two rails configured to slide along the grooves. The brush holder has a knife electrical connector configured to mate with the fork electrical connector. A brush spring is clipped on the brush holder, and the brush spring presses a brush against a collector of a dynamoelectric machine. A brush lead is connected to the brush and a brush terminal. The brush lead is an elongate conductive member, and a brush wear indicator is disposed over the brush lead.

Brushed motor

Provided is a brushed motor in which noise in a high rotational speed range is effectively decreased. A bar-shaped flat attachment 28 of synthetic resin is inserted along an axial line L into an opening of a slot 16 formed in a core 14 of a rotor 7, and fixed with respect to the core 14 and/or windings 17 using adhesive agent. The flat attachment 28 has side surfaces 28b and an inner peripheral surface 28c. The side surfaces 28b are engaged from an inner peripheral side with inclined surfaces 15a of teeth 15 adjacent to each other across the opening of the slot 16. The inner peripheral surface 28c of the flat attachment 28 has two ridges 28d protruding therefrom which are abutted against the windings 17. The flat attachment 28 closes the opening of the slot 16 and shapes an outer peripheral surface 14a of the core 14 into a flat cross sectional shape suitable for suppression of wind noise.

A slip ring is electrically connected to or disconnected from the brush. A support spring surrounds the brush between the slip ring and the armature. A coil is disposed outside of the holder so as to overlap the support spring and the armature. A first power terminal is connected to the brush and supplies a first driving current. A second power terminal is connected to the coil and supplying a second driving current.

Photovoltaic-wind hybrid turbine system

There is provided a hybrid turbine system comprising a plurality of flexible and thin film photovoltaic modules or panels attached to a plurality of blades of a vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) for energy generation. Electrical performance of rotating photovoltaic modules or panels is enhanced since rotating photovoltaic modules are self-cooled by rotation of the blades of the wind turbine. It is experimentally shown that voltage of the photovoltaic modules decreases when the photovoltaic modules' temperature increases, and this decrease was modelled by four parameters namely ideality factor, reverse saturation current, short-circuit current, and material band gap. The present invention evidences that the proposed rotating photovoltaic modules increases the output voltage of the photovoltaic modules. Rotation of the photovoltaic modules as a part of the plurality of blades cools down and lowers the operating temperature of the photovoltaic modules and improves overall performance of the hybrid turbine system.
