Methods and apparatus for treating glaucoma

An ocular implant for treating glaucoma is provided, which may include any number of features. More particularly, the present invention relates to implants that facilitate the transfer of fluid from within one area of the eye to another area of the eye. One feature of the implant is that it includes a proximal inlet portion and a distal inlet portion adapted to be inserted into the anterior chamber of the eye, and an intermediate portion adapted to be inserted into Schlemm's canal. Another feature of the implant is that it can be biased to assume a predetermined shape to aid in placement within the eye.

Biosensor for monitoring eyedrop usage compliance

Systems and methods for monitoring eyedrop usage are disclosed. Example embodiments include a system to monitor eyedrop usage. The system may include a detection and activation circuit couplable to a wireless biosensor and an eyedrop dispenser. The detection and activation circuit may include a pressure transducer that transmits a signal upon detecting a force at, or above, a threshold value. The system may also include a wireless biosensor insertable into a region of an eyelid. The wireless biosensor may include a sensor to detect the physical change and the chemical change of tears as a result of eyedrop usage. The wireless biosensor may also include a transceiver to receive the signal that activates the sensor for an activation time.

Ocular delivery systems and methods

Described here are systems and methods for accessing Schlemm's canal, for delivering a fluid composition therein, and for tearing the trabecular meshwork. The fluid composition may be a viscoelastic fluid that is delivered into the canal to facilitate drainage of aqueous humor by disrupting the canal and surrounding trabeculocanalicular tissues. The systems described here may be configured to cut or tear the trabecular meshwork with the body of an elongate member located within Schlemm's canal.

ASSEMBLY COMPRISING AN OCT DEVICE FOR ASCERTAINING A 3D RECONSTRUCTION OF AN OBJECT REGION VOLUME, COMPUTER PROGRAM, AND COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD FOR SAME

The invention relates to an assembly (10) comprising an OCT device (20) for scanning an object region volume (22) arranged in an object region (18) using an OCT scanning beam (21), an object (24) with a section, which can be arranged in the object region (18) and which can be located in the object region volume (22) by means of the OCT device (20), in the object region volume (22), and a calculating unit (60) which is connected to the OCT device (20) and contains a computer program for ascertaining a 3D reconstruction of the object region volume (22) and for ascertaining the position of the section of the object (24) in the object region volume (22) by processing OCT scanning information obtained by scanning the object region volume (22) using the OCT device (20). According to the invention, the computer program has a calculation routine for ascertaining a target area (90) in the 3D reconstruction of the object region volume (22), said calculation routine determining a reference variable for the object (24) relative to the target area (90). The object (24) is designed as a surgical instrument which has a capillary with an opening for discharging a medium. The calculation routine of the computer program is used to ascertain an actual value of the volume of the medium discharged through the opening of the capillary in the target area by comparing data of the target area in the 3D reconstruction of the object region volume (22) and/or by comparing scanning information of the target area obtained by scanning the object region volume (22) using the OCT device (20) prior to and while discharging the medium. The invention also relates to a computer program and to a method for determining the volume of a medium discharged in an object region (18) through an opening by means of a surgical instrument with a capillary.

METHOD OF DESIGNING A COLOUR FILTER FOR MODIFYING HUMAN COLOUR VISION, SUCH COLOUR FILTER AND COLOUR FILTER SET

The object of the invention relates to a method of designing a colour filter for modifying human colour vision by defining the spectral transmission function of the colour filter such as to maximise colour discrimination between more than one element, colour sample, of a colour sample set when a targeted human eye, the colour vision of which is to be modified, is viewing the colour sample set with the colour filter, and at the same time such as to minimise the difference between the colour identification of the colour samples by the targeted eye and a reference eye having a reference colour vision. The object of the invention also relates to such a colour filter, such a colour filter set, and the use of such colour filter and a method for modifying human colour vision.

STABILIZED INTRAOCULAR DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE

Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to a stabilized intraocular drug delivery system for implantation into an eye of a subject. The system can include an intraocular lens (IOL) assembly and a drug delivery component. The IOL assembly can include a lens and a haptic. The haptic can include an outer end, an inner end opposite the outer end, a retention tab at the inner end, and a connection tab positioned between the outer end and the inner end and adjoining the lens. The drug delivery component can include at least one therapeutic agent and a fixation portion having an opening to receive the haptic and secure the drug delivery component to the IOL assembly. The fixation portion of the drug delivery component can be secured to the connection tab of the haptic such that the retention tab inhibits movement of the drug delivery component relative to the IOL assembly.

EYE DROP DISPENSER ASSEMBLY
