Disclosed embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods for wound treatment. A wound dressing apparatus can comprises a wound contact layer, at least one absorbent layer, an electronics unit comprising a negative pressure source unit, and a cover layer. The electronics unit can comprise a plurality of sensors positioned on a printed circuit board and an inlet protection mechanism of the negative pressure source unit comprises a first recess in fluid communication with a first sensor and the outlet or exhaust mechanism negative pressure source unit comprises a second recess in fluid communication with a second sensor.
Accessory devices of a medical system, and related methods for communicating leakage state
The present disclosure provides a method, performed in an accessory device, for communicating a leakage state of an ostomy appliance, wherein the accessory device comprises an interface configured to communicate with one or more devices of an ostomy system, the one or more devices comprising a monitor device, and/or the ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a skin surface of a user. The method comprises obtaining monitor data from the one or more devices, the monitor data being indicative of presence of fluid at a proximal side of a first adhesive layer of the ostomy appliance towards the skin surface; determining a leakage state at the proximal side of the first adhesive layer of the ostomy appliance based on the monitor data, and communicating the leakage state of the ostomy appliance via the interface.
Wound therapy system with wound volume estimation using geometric approximation
A wound therapy system includes an instillation fluid canister configured to contain an instillation fluid, a pump fluidly coupled to the instillation fluid canister and operable to deliver the instillation fluid from the instillation fluid canister to a wound, a user interface configured to receive user input indicating one or more geometric attributes of the wound, and a controller electronically coupled to the pump and the user interface. The controller is configured to determine a volume of the wound based on the user input, determine a volume of the instillation fluid to deliver to the wound based on the volume of the wound, and operate the pump to deliver the determined volume of the instillation fluid to the wound.
Medical device containing a multi-ply knit fabric
A medical device comprising a device that covers at least a portion of a patient's skin and has an inner surface designed to be in contact with the patient's skin. It contains a multi-ply knit fabric that contains a first knit ply and a second knit ply. The first knit ply contains a plurality of first yarns and forms the upper surface of the fabric. The second knit ply contains a plurality of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) yarns which forms the lower surface of the fabric. The first and second ply are integrated through combined portions formed by interlacing first yarns among the PTFE yarns, interlacing PTFE yarns among the first yarns, and interlacing a plurality of third yarns among the first and the PTFE yarns. The multi-ply knit fabric also contains a composition comprising at least one silver ion-containing compound on at least the upper surface of the multi-ply knit fabric.
Wound dressing
A wound dressing, suitable for use in negative pressure wound therapy, comprising a body of porous material, the body of porous material comprising a plurality of cuts which provide regions of flexibility within the body. Further embodiments relate to methods of manufacturing and method of use of such wound dressings. In addition, the wound dressing can comprise a retaining mechanism removably coupled to the material and configured to retain the material in the expanded conformation.
