System and method for cancelling strong signals from combined weak and strong signals in communications systems
A receiver for cancelling strong signals from combined weak and strong signals includes: a first circuitry for inputting a weak and strong signal as an input; a parametric cancellation circuit for inputting a representation of the strong signal and an output of the first circuitry to produce a cancellation signal; a second circuitry electrically coupled to the parametric cancellation circuit for inputting the cancellation signal to produce a modulated output; a demodulator electronically coupled to the second circuitry for demodulating the modulated output to produce a demodulated output and an error signal, where the demodulated output is the data contained in the weak signal; and an adaptation logic circuit for inputting the representation of the strong signal, the demodulated output and the error signal to adaptively produce parameters for the parametric cancellation circuit. The parametric cancellation circuit further inputs the error signal and the parameters to produce the cancellation signal.

Narrowband IQ extraction and storage
Capturing, extracting and storing narrowband IQ data for later processing enables timely and efficient analysis. As wideband capture of RF information includes noise and non-signal elements, the present invention detects, extracts and stores narrowband IQ signals for later assessment. By transforming a high-volume data stream to a collection of smaller narrowband signals with greatly reduced storage and on-board processing requirements the present invention facilitates the capability to analyze signals of interest in an otherwise denied environment.
Radar system for detecting profiles of objects, particularly in a vicinity of a machine work tool
A radar system is disclosed for detecting profiles of objects, particularly in a vicinity of a machine work tool. The radar system uses a direct digital synthesiser to generate an intermediate frequency off-set frequency. It also uses an up-converter comprising a quadrature mixer, single-side mixer or complex mixer to add the off-set frequency to the transmitted frequency. It further uses a down-converter in the receive path driven by the off-set frequency as a local oscillator. The radar system enables received information to be transferred to the intermediate frequency. This in turn can be sampled synchronously in such a way as to provide a complex data stream carrying amplitude and phase information. The radar system is implementable with a single transmit channel and a single receive channel.
Time-alignment measurement for hybrid HD radio™ technology
A method for processing a digital audio broadcast signal in a radio receiver, includes: receiving a hybrid broadcast signal; demodulating the hybrid broadcast signal to produce an analog audio stream and a digital audio stream; and using a normalized cross-correlation of envelopes of the analog audio stream and the digital audio stream to measure a time offset between the analog audio stream and the digital audio stream. The time offset can be used to align the analog audio stream and the digital audio stream for subsequent blending of an output of the radio receiver from the analog audio stream to the digital audio stream or from the digital audio stream to the analog audio stream.
Methods and apparatus for performing a high speed phase demodulation scheme using a low bandwidth phase-lock loop
Methods and apparatus for performing a high speed phase demodulation scheme using a low bandwidth phase-lock loop are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a low bandwidth phase lock loop to lock to a data signal at a first phase, the data signal capable of oscillating at the first phase or a second phase; and output a first output signal at the first phase and a second output signal at the second phase, the first output signal or the second output signal being utilized in a feedback loop of the low bandwidth phase lock loop. The example apparatus further includes a fast phase change detection circuit coupled to the low bandwidth phase lock loop to determine whether the data signal is oscillating at the first phase or the second phase.
