Power Limiter Configuration for Audio Signals
Example embodiments provide a process that includes one or more of receiving an audio signal at a feedback compressor circuit, multiplying the received audio signal with a power feedback signal to create a product audio signal, wherein the feedback signal comprises a low-pass filtered signal, applying a power amplifier to the product audio signal, and providing the amplified product audio signal as an output signal to a speaker.
Systems and methods of volume limiting
Systems and methods for limiting volume in an audio playback device using a feedback controller are disclosed herein. In one example, a gain stage modulates gain of an audio signal based in part on feedback from a downstream limiter. The gain stage receives a first audio signal as well as a feedback signal from the feedback controller. Based at least in part on the feedback signal from the feedback controller, the gain stage modulates a gain of the first audio signal to provide a second audio signal. The second audio signal is delivered to the limiter, which limits the second audio signal to produce an output signal. The output signal is played back via a transducer. The feedback controller receives a gain reduction value from the limiter and determines a feedback signal to provide to the gain stage upstream of the limiter.

Power limiter configuration for audio signals
Example embodiments provide a process that includes one or more of receiving an audio signal from a feedback path of a feedback compressor circuit, determining whether an auxiliary attenuation value applied to the feedback compressor circuit has changed since a last audio signal was received, responsive to determining the auxiliary value has changed, determining a current operational state value of the LPF needs to be modified based on the changed auxiliary attenuation value, modifying the operational state value of the LPF, and applying the audio signal to the modified LPF.
Dynamic audio headroom management system
In an audio system with a plurality of input signals, the input signals are prioritized from least important to most important. The level of the aggregate of all of the input signals is compared to a threshold level. If the level is greater than the threshold, the levels of one or more of the input signals are reduced one at a time, in order from the least important input signal to the most important input signal.
DEVICES AND METHODS TO CONTROL DYNAMIC AUDIO RANGE IN BOOSTED AUDIO SYSTEMS
A controller regulates the voltage delivered to the load and current drawn from the battery in an audio system depending on ripple in the battery voltage which is input to the controller to allocate power for audio playback. Regulation maximizes available headroom while avoiding audio clipping. The effect of internal battery and external parasitic resistance (ESR) on ripple is compensated by an iterative process. ESR is rapidly increased whenever the minimum of the battery voltage input to the controller falls below a clipping threshold and slowly decreased whenever such voltage exceeds such threshold and the audio is under compression. A limiter allocates power to utilize more of the available audio headroom. A de-emphasis filter in each audio signal path compensates for capacitive ripple in the battery voltage input to the controller. As the frequency of the audio input changes, the filter(s) allow frequency-dependent power/current regulation to fill the full audio range without distortion.
CLIPPING STATE DETECTING CIRCUIT AND CLIPPING STATE DETECTING METHOD
According to one embodiment, a clipping state detecting circuit includes: a zero-cross detection circuit that detects a zero-cross point of an input signal; an output circuit that converts the input signal into a PWM signal; a clip detection circuit that detects a state in which an output of the output circuit is clipped; and a control circuit that determines a state is a clipping state when a clip time of the output of the output circuit satisfies a condition of a threshold value set in advance with respect to a non-clip time.

Headset playback acoustic dosimetry
In-ear sound pressure level, SPL, is determined that is caused by output audio being converted into sound by a headset worn by a user. The in-ear SPL is converted into a sound sample having units that are suitable for evaluating sound noise exposure. These operations are repeated to produce a sequence of sound samples during playback. This sequence of sound samples is then written to a secure database. Access to the database is authorized by the user. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
